Back when I had the Family Farm, we had several ponds and numerous pairs of Canadian geese would come in early March, begin nesting on the shores of the spring-fed ponds, and by April, would have 5-6 goslings each. They'd spend a month or two marching them around, teaching them how to fish (ate many of my small Koi!) and pull edible waterlilies from the bottom, and then fly away in May.

Then, the even more ducks would come in and nest and have their many broods of ducklings and repeat the performance. It was magical, except for getting too near the nests, and the males would come screaming after us and chase us and the cats all the way into one of the buildings. Damn, those geese are fast and nasty when they're protecting the brood!

Look carefully and you can see all the goslings...
