Well, we obviously are not going to agree, but if you don’t do the comparisons by legal autonomy status, they you have to make other rules to compare. For instance, Arlington City and Arlington County are the same and Fairfax City is an autonomous township surrounded by Fairfax County whose numbers are also not included in the Fairfax County averages. Each of these situations are different, but the common element is the same state legal treatment as counties by name.
The reason putting Falls Church on the top thirteen list is a poor comparison is because it is miniscule compared to the other listed areas. Los Alamos should also be removed since it is not comparable to most of the remaining sample but at least it is a county.
Falls Church has a population of slightly over 13,000. Compare the population of the other areas... Fairfax County 1,120,000, Montgomery County MD 1,000,000, Morris County NJ 498,000, Prince William County VA 430,000, Loudon County VA 338,000, Somerset County NJ 327,000, Howard County MD 300,000, Douglas County Co 298,000, Arlington County VA 221,000, Stafford County VA 134,350, Hunterdon County NJ 127,000, Los Alamos NM 18,000
The affluence in northern VA comes from those employed directly or indirectly by the federal gubmint.
Their livelihoods depend on larger government and more money flowing to D.C. So they have little interest in a political agenda that promotes lower taxes and smaller gubmint.
