Senate Republicans were unable to stop military pension cuts when Senate Democrats blocked a vote on an amendment to prevent the cuts by closing a welfare loophole for illegal immigrants Tuesday evening.

The two-year budget deal brokered by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, would cut military pensions by $6 billion over ten years, leaving some Senate Republicans scrambling to stop the cuts.

“Removing this unbalanced treatment of our military retirees ought to be one of the key actions we should take before this legislation moves forward. In fact, greater savings than this can be achieved by passing a legislative fix recommended by the Inspector General of the U.S. Treasury that would stop the IRS from improperly providing tax credits to illegal aliens,” Alabama Republican Jeff Sessions said Monday, announcing his co-sponsorship of Mississippi Republican Sen. Roger Wicker’s amendment to restore the military retirement benefits Monday.

And we have 12 GOP Senators who decided they had rather vote with the Dems in order to ensure we promote illegal non-Americans over those who protect this country from harm.

I call it treason.

This problem originated with the House Republicans.

The votes of elected officials do matter. No amount of spinning will absolve them in the minds of many voters.

Are these Senators all idiots and think that the American people, especially veterans, either won’t notice these cuts or will have for gotten them by election day? The days when a liberal media, willing to lie and spin any story to please the Washington ruling class, being the only source of information are gone. While the low information voters will continue to take their information pablum from a corrupt media, a lot of Americans have figured out that Washington routinely lies to them and does not put the best interests of the country first. I see that these Americans are reaching critical mass and by either the ballot box or open rebellion Washington will get cleaned out.

I don’t even need to look, but I bet I can name most of those 12 senate “Republicans” who are Democrats in all but party affiliation. They’ve been stabbing Republicans in the back now for years, and this particular cut doesn’t surprise me in the least, as these are the same guys (and gals) who voted for sodomy in the ranks.

That said, I have no problem with cuts in my military retirement pay as part of a much larger effort to reign in the federal government. That’s not what happened here of course. The federal government hands out all sorts of free stuff to people who have never done a single thing for this country, while I believe I actually earned my military pension. Subsidizing failure while punishing service and sacrifice is not a recipe for success.

We need to change the name of our nation. It is no longer The United States Of America. It is now Democratland. Hail Democratland!

I also feel i earned my retirement. I am also 100% P/T. I get a double cut, however I don’t mind making the sacrifice if it helps military readiness.

This bill was written by a republican and voted for by republicans. The same republicans that allowed the military sequester to happen in the first place.

Additionally, where are the veteran organizations that supposedly fight for me? I’m a member of the American Legion. What is their statement on this? Where is the DAV, the VFW, AmVets? You mean to tell me none of those organizations knew about this ahead of time? They are there wanting my dues I can tell you that.

I’ll be fine, but there are brothers and sisters out there that are hurting and rely on this money. Folks on medical retirement can’t work full time or they lose the retirement benefit.

Did you think of that Mr. Ryan?

It was the two Senators from Georgia and 10 other Republicans in the Senate that made this possible. And let’s not forget the majority of Republicans in the House that passed this bill to take benefits from veterans while continuing their own lavish benefits, no questions asked.
