I don't know who Sheriff Dart is. But the article says that he wants to ban anyone with one arrest for domestic violence from getting a gun permit (I'm on board with distinguishing arrests from convictions), but the article says that the State Police must file an objecting for anyone with five arrests in seven years.

I don't have any arrests. None of my friends have any arrests. I don’t thing I've worked with anyone with more than one arrest for anything.

I'm not sure if the article means 5 arrests for domestic violence in 7 years, but it doesn't matter. I'd be worried if the government wasn't going to scrutinize gun permits for people who have been arrested four times in seven years for any reasons (every other year?).

If someone has been arrested that often and never convicted, does that mean they're doing something wrong, or that someone has it in for them? It's often not too difficult for a dishonest person to get someone else arrested under false pretenses.
