"I feel like I'm having a heart attack," she said now, sitting in that living room, 17 days before the 8th arrived again. "A real one or a stress one?" Tiara asked, her eyes still glued to a rap video on the cellphone.

I don't believe Obamaphones are 'smart phones'...Bunch of stuff Eli Saslow didn't catch. Maybe every now and then the Washington Post should hire someone NOT so easily hoodwinked... maybe one reporter from the working class??

The latest advice from a caseworker assigned to help with her job search was to "make a list of options" and "stay prayerful,"

Caseworker, sounds like probation, but just say its to help a 41 year old find a job, how convenient for more government spending without results.

They turned a corner toward the church and saw that, in fact, they had come too late. The pantry wouldn't open for another hour, but already the line stretched two blocks, a collection of 250 people who had brought their own grocery carts, shopping bags and lawn chairs.

And did the media just say last week, the "Great Recession", the recession that ended in June 2009, as if we've been in a recovery cycle every since. I sense an even "Greater Recession" is already begun, again.

Her own food stamps no longer seemed like enough for the family, and neither did Tiara's, but there was another option. Her eldest son had yet to enroll in the food stamp program. He had no income. She was sure he would qualify. His likely benefit would be about $160 each month.

Only in America...

“And what is this about a 7 percent cut to food stamps???? If Bush did that there would be 24/7 coverage trying to incite rioting”

From what I understand, there was a temporary increase in food stamp benefits as part of Obama’s stimulus bill, and now it has expired. Instead of being thankful that they got a “7 percent bonus” for the last few years, libs want to paint it as a “7 percent cut” now that the program is ending. Of course, they want to blame it on Republicans, even though it was Obama’s bill that included the expiration date for the benefit increase.

The point is Obama cares about one single thing...himself and not one thing else. nothing!

That detail rattled me, too. Who is paying for her data usage?

40 acres and a mule hasn’t helped either.

They get on public assistance their whole lives, and their low expectations are met.

They weren’t so much hungry as bored, anxious, tired, depressed. Tiere, normally a reliable student who talked about wanting to attend college, skipped school the Monday after Thanksgiving and stayed in the basement, dodging the truancy officer.

*****

That is the real problem, boredom.....no responsibility and nothing to fill their time. Like the old adage of work 8 hours, sleep 8 hours and play 8 hours. They have 16 hours of nothing.

Also, since when does this “want to attend college” reliable student get a visit from a truant officer for missing one day of school. BS on that.

The hamburger thing's not true either... I'm surprised they didn't tell the reporter they knew a bunch of 8 year old heroin addicts. It's a liberal paper - they don't care if the lies fit the meme...

Who is going to hire someone with no skills and six babies.

Plus she’s not totally honest. She claims her heat was turned off during the winter. Doesn’t happen. Ever.

At least she has her fancy hair do, eyelash extensions and a cell phone that does video. Who is paying for all that?
