"I bet it was better in the days of Martin Luther King, for real," Tiara said. "At least back then people were angry. They were doing something. How do they expect us to live? We got no jobs, no opportunities, and now they're cutting our benefits? What's Obama doing, for real? How can you be a good president when half of your own city is like this? Yo, Mr. President! We're here, right under your nose, living, struggling, going nowhere."

Keep working hard, everybody. These three generations of welfare dependents are counting on us.

Looking to THE GOVERNMENT for help- that would be her first problem

Should have studied, learned a skill, not gotten pregnant by multiple “baby-daddies” and married and bought a home

You know, I really do agree... but for a lot of people the multiple-baby-daddy plan seems to work out pretty well.

That Democrat President cares so much about the poor that he’s limiting his winter Hawaii vacation to only 17 days. Surf’s up!

" they left to stand in line for boxes of donated food and day-old bread.

It was Thursday, which meant giveaways at a place called Bread for the City. Fridays were free medical care at the clinic in Southeast Washington. Saturdays were the food pantry at Ambassador Baptist Church. The 1st of each month was a disability check, the 2nd was government cash assistance and the 8th was food stamps.

"November FREEBIES," read a flier attached to their fridge, a listing of daily handouts that looked the same as October's freebies, and September's freebies, and the schedule of dependency that had helped sustain Raphael's family for three generations and counting.

Except this month had introduced a historic shift. The nation's food stamp program had just undergone its biggest cut in 50 years, the beginning of an attempt by Congress to dramatically shrink the government's fastest-growing entitlement program, which had tripled in cost during the past decade to almost $80 billion each year. Starting in November, more than 47 million Americans had experienced decreases in their monthly benefit, averaging about 7 percent "

SO much stupid... so little time. The effort they put into getting freebies could be used to find a job. If they had a skill, other than freeloading.

And what is this about a 7 percent cut to food stamps???? If Bush did that there would be 24/7 coverage trying to incite rioting

Ask not what the country can do for you, ask what YOU can do to earn it! Simply, get off your fat behind and earn your own way, it is not someones elses responsibility to house, feed and dress you and your entire multiple daddy family for your entire lives. You want a better way of life? Change it yourself but do it legally.

Sorry, I don’t feel too much sympathies for them.

Libs used ‘For The Children’ as an excuse for wealth redistribution. And these people used children for their welfare checks. Yes. USED their own children to get more for their own stuff.

All they are responsible is to bring forth more dem voters, it is up to the rest of us to feed/cloth them. Too harsh and cold blooded, you bet.

If there was a way to help the 21 year old go to community college, I'd donate. I use to work with a guy from south LA, both his parents were in jail. He escaped using the military to give him IT skills - and he was a damn good IT Tech as well.

Problem is, it takes motivation and people who want to help. I don't believe the Democrats want to help - they're breeding another generation of Democrats ...

40 lbs. of meat for 1 month? Tilapia, Snickers, processed, pre-packaged food, 11 boxes of cereal. I think I’m seeing why she’s running out of money. Interesting that she’s whining about not having money for food, but she’s got enough money to buy cigarettes for herself and her daughter. Priorities, doncha know...

As far as I am concerned, she can go cry on somebody’s shoulder that cares. I will say one thing people like her did to me, they beat all the care I once had in me out.

Proof that the Great Society is a total success!

“I’m grown, and I don’t own nothing,...”

(She is grown, and she doesn’t know anything). That’s her real problem, and the cure starts right where she is at, by starting with what she doesn’t know. That is how someone learns, and, in her case, that is probably everything, addition and subtraction, how to write a sentence, her multiplication tables, how to read a book, how to produce a days worth of work that might be of value to someone. Go back to square one, and start reclaiming everything that welfarism and urban liberalism have stolen.

Or... Look to Obama and government, and hate whitey for as long as the Leftist revolution needs that. Good luck when it doesn’t.

Learn to be an independent, productive individual, or learn to be a productive bee in the hive. Nothing isn’t much of an option.

I’m fresh out of sympathy-work is hard to come by and I do not-and have never-applied for or gotten government cheese,
not even as a single mother-and I’m damn proud of that.

Let this woman get off her fat ass and go to work when she gets up at 5am instead of using all that energy to go mooch free food-she might consider not feeding her kids pre-packaged and processed food, too-it is unhealthy and expensive-how about some fresh veggies from the grocery store, instead? Fresh fruit? Chicken/

Take a moment and decide what you want to do with your life, what is your dream? Your going to have to be something when you grow-up, choose it for yourself, don't let life happen, participate. And go pursue that dream while you are young enough to.

This is America and you still can enjoy your freedom to be what you want to be. Focus, and let nothing else get in the way.

The unemployment rate in Ward 8 was 24 percent, triple the national average

No, 24% unemployment rate is about equal to the National average, try looking up the labor participation rate instead.
