And get a clue about dressing for business. I had a couple of young men come to interview with me for an adjunct instructor position. They showed up wearing jeans and t-shirts. When I asked them about it, they said it was because they were Apple experts, and Apple's business culture is jeans and t-shirts. They were shocked when I told them they weren't interviewing with Apple, they were interviewing with me, and I expect my instructors to dress like professionals.
and I expect my instructors to dress like professionals.
From what I see only a few know how. Grooming and proper fit and style of business clothing seems to elude much of this crowd. A kid whose suit pants are worn like casual jean look worse than the T-shirt and jeans crowd.
My son turned 18 this year and graduated High School. He went to his interview in a suit and tie and was immediately hired at $22.50 per hour for an instruction position.
He decided to start Community College rather than Virginia Tech and work full time. The company will help him with his school and has quite a few advancement opportunities. I am very proud of him.
