Finishing up the weekend, the fun crushing nanny state has come up with a new target. James Bond. And why? Because he drinks too much.
Well maybe they can make him a Black Muslim. I know Roger Ebert wanted a Black Bond for many years.
Thy changed M from the chiseled old Royal Navy Captain with the sharp grey eyes whom Bond secretly admired so much to a cold bossy woman.
They no longer have any relation to Ian Fleming’s Bond anyway.
They killed off Dench’s M in the last one and brought back a man, so at least that’s a positive.

How did she get it? I never liked her in that roll.
By they time Bond found out it was too late.
Courageous or stupid depending on your perspective.
I still lust for Bond movies. The older, the better....
“Shaken, not stirred”
He’s Lord Voldemort.
Leftists are intent on taking all the fun out of life. With every American at every other American’s throat, we are all easier to control. We must throw off the shackles of oppressive government...........who is our leader? (besides John Galt.........he’s fictional).
Thanks. Now that she’s gone I’ll probably watch the next Bond movie. LOL
Yes, they were the best. Connery and all the good looking women....
Black Bond? Coming from white England?
In the Wild, Wild West tv series, Robert Conrad played the role of James West, but in the movie version James West wasn’t a creepy ass cracker anymore. He was a black man played by Will Smith. In the movie ‘Thor,’ a black man played the role of Viking mythological god Heimdall. The Norse gods were all white. But let a white man play the role of Obozo on SNL, and thats raaacist!

So true.
Well, I do! ( Have a relation to Ian Fleming's Bond, that is ) because I read several of the books before the first movie came out, which I saw first run of course. It was quite an event, not as big as Star Wars, I guess, but huge at the time.
I guess it's a sad fact that Sean Connery displaced whatever image I may have had of Bond right off the bat, but he was pretty close, anyway. So, if you stick to Dr. No, or any of the Connery films, you can't go too far wrong, sez me.
Let it be said that he did a damn good job of it, too, FWIW. You know, there are numerous deviations from the Norse canon in the movie, and I would venture to say this wasn't the worst of them. Great movie, BTW.
The last Bond movie, I really liked the first part but not so much the last. It started as this wheels-within-wheels duel of minds between Bond and the bad guy, but then became a simple chase scene where the bad guy acted too stereotypically evil.
The Javier Bardem had plenty of reasons to hate M.
It wasn't really spelled out, but it was clear that Bardem's character (Silva) was loyal to M, and she abandoned him. For whatever reason.
He even tried to commit suicide while in custody because he was being tortured, but instead ended up just destroying his face/jaw.
One of the few Bond movies where you DO see the "bad guy" having "legit" reasons for doing evil things.
He wasn't after gold or blowing up the world or plain ego. He wanted cold, hard revenge on M herself and MI6 in general.
The installation of a female M in the series a few years back was probably done to reflect this lady http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stella_Rimington
There already is a black Bond: His name is Shaft!
