It could be true. Bloomberg flat out stated that there weren’t enough rich (whose wealth is portable) to bang for more cash. Bottom line; Bloomie was a leftist who would have hit the rich if he could have gotten away with it.
Oh, completely understand about the other boroughs - but most of the people who work in Manhattan don’t actually live there either.

you want “universal Pre-K” (a dumb idea) and you think your city can’t affor it? well your own state has the ability to raise whatever it might take in your state to help you pay for it?
Oh? you think the money should come from taxing others in other states as well? then wouldn’t they demand their share be returned to them, and not to you? then, in as much as that is true where would your taxpayers gain?
In fact they would gain nowhere, but you and your state politicians would be able to claim that you kept “local taxes” down with “federal dollars” to pay for your local program, which, in fact result in higher federal spending and over time higher federal taxes to pay for it and in fact zero “savings” for your citizens. You just to keep the public under the fiction that federal dollars were needed and your citizens got free money from Washington.
Note to everyone else.
The real agenda of these kinds of pleas for federal involvment is TRULY please for expanded federal control, and authority, in, as one could expect from the NYC mayor, hopes to “nationalize” everything about education.

Notice, BTW, that none of the other mayors at this WH get-together were mentioned by name in the posted article. Wonder why.
There were several capsule biographies of De Blasio written in the last few months, pointing out his far left and even outright communist ties (like going to Nicaragua in the 1980s to help out the Sandanistas) down through his career. One claimed that his mommy was a commie and that he grew up as a "Red Diaper Baby." George Soros supported him in his mayoral campaign.
Lemme guess. All these mayors are blacks, outright Communists, or union thugs?

That's because Democrat Governors elected by the hordes from NYC prevent new sources from being developed. There is enough to fund a lot of the NYC crap ... if needed ... that is now paid for by the Feds soaking up tax dollars from more productive places and then .... very wastefully ...recycling part of of it back.

There is more than enough Liberals and NIMBY folks (not in my back yard types) in upstate New York to tie the hands of natural resource development, without help from those in NYC.
