US authorities today announced the arrest of Terry Lee Loewen, 58, of Wichita, Kan. Loewen had attempted to detonate a car bomb at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, authorities said. He was arrested at approximately 5:40 am today.
Loewen "was arrested as part of an FBI undercover investigation, and the device used by the defendant was, in fact, inert and at no time posed a danger to the public," a Department of Justice press release stated. According to the DOJ, Loewen was arrested "without incident" after "he attempted to enter the airport tarmac and deliver a vehicle loaded with what he believed were high explosives." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------snip------------------------------------------------
According to the criminal complaint, Loewen expressed a desire to an undercover FBI employee "to engage in violent jihad on behalf of al Qaeda." "I don't understand how you can read the Qur'an and the sunnah of the Prophet (saw) and not understand that jihad and the implementation of Sharia is absolutely demanded of all the Muslim Ummah," Loewen said in one communication.
In another communication with an undercover FBI employee, Loewen stated that "Brothers like Osama bin Laden and Anwar al Awlaki are a great inspiration to me." According to Loewen, he read many of Awlaki's writings and found them to be "very informative." In addition to Awlaki's writings and AQAP's Inspire, Loewen possessed The Al Qaeda Manual (Manchester Manual) and expressed praise for the Revolution Muslim website.
In fact, in one communication Loewen said he thought about providing money to the family of Younus Abdullah Muhammad, one of the site's founders who was sentenced to more than 11 years in prisons in June 2012. According to Loewen, Revolution Muslim was "the first website that really helped me understand what obedience to Allah(swt) was."

A little old to be a jihadist in America, but we need to find out more about this guy.
However, it does expose the powerful recruiting pull of Al Qaeda propaganda and the Koran on warped minds, of which there are a lot in this country.
The “lone wolf” is as much a danger if not more so than the organized cell.
Glad somebody in the government is on the ball because it sure isn’t the White House, Congress, the CIA/Clapper/Donilon, etc.
So basically this guy is saying that he is your typical leftist because we all know that leftists all admire Bin Laden and Al Awlaki
Isnt that Mike Myers??
One look at the guy and you just know something fishy is going on.
Both Osama bin Ladin and Anwar al Awlaki are dead now, but their materials remain. Anwar al Awlaki was the creator of Inspire magazine, distributed on the Internet. He was an American citizen, and the first “American citizen” that the Obama ordered killed, without a trial (and he was). He was born in New Mexico. At the time of his ordered killing by the White House, he was called the world’s MOST DANGEROUS TERRORIST.
“...he was resolved to commit an act of violent jihad...”
So - he was inspired by Islam to commit this act?
Uhm...either a true believer or a proxy moron!
There are probably dozens of his kind carrying top secret clearances.
An “SOS” - Son of Sebelius?
It’s Pat from SNL and it stole Ken Burn’s hair do.
From the looks of this Einstein, I wonder if he was set up?
Well, they can’t all look like Don Corleone! ;)
Does this guy have a two digit IQ?
Does that guy look like he could pull off a terrorist attack???
This goofball looks dumb enough to be kin to the shoe bomber.
Sounds like a BATFE Milwaukee operative was involved.
Gott im Himmel.
Praise the Lord this guy was stopped.
