St. George, Utah is just a bit downwind from one of the big open air A-bomb test sites from the 1950’s. John Wayne’s cancer was linked to the fact that he was making a movie in St. George during a test.

My sister's father-in-law had a similar story. He was present at one of the testings (or a few, I forget the pertinent details). Watching it. I wanna say it was somewhere in the south Pacific. Anyhow, he developed melanoma of the eye some years later due to it.

Even crazier. I guess it is really rare and really fast moving. He caught it on a routine diabetes eye exam. Completely cured but had to get a glass eye.

This was 10-15 years ago. He developed a few other cancers over the years. Beat them all. Kidneys gave out and killed him a year or two ago.
