An even split of Democratic and Republican legislators back a bill supported by Rep. Justin Amash, aiming to end the country's domestic surveillance programs.
The legislation, titled The USA Freedom Act, would, if signed into law, curb the National Security Agency's ability to conduct communications sweeps and close a "back door" to information by requiring a court order when performing searches of Americans in data already collected without warrants.
The Hill reported during the weekend that the bill has at least 102 cosponsors, including 51 Democrats and 51 Republicans...
According to The Hill, members of Congress are placing increased pressure on House Republican leaders to bring the bill up for a vote. Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, defends the NSA's programs and voted against the "Amash Amendment" in July, which would have defunded the programs...

D'oh!
Then I realized...the feds can't spy on the Amish unless they go undercover. They don't have the technology to be spied on.
We're so beyond bizarre when the HOR has to pass a bill to grant us our constitutional right to privacy. Unless we go Amish, that is. <^..^>
You keep leaving Conyers out of it newb.

Isn’t this your hour to bow at your shrine to John Boehner, with whom you stand on this issue?
You obviously support Conyers.

You’re going to be late for your first genuflection to Boehner. Perhaps he’ll forgive if you’re on time for the other four daily prayers.
Legislation is insufficient in and of itself; obviously some examples will have to be made of violators.
It's way past time some of these organizations have their budgets brought into the light of day and slashed to mere fractions of today's numbers. It's obvious they have too much spare time and money on their hands.
While we're at it, we can abolish the ATF, and throw every single person who works for them in jail just for good measure.
Ditto and wondered the same...and I’m WEARING my glasses.
Seems to me that a lot of these agencies are nothing more than make work programs for political cronies who suck up billions in taxpayer dollars.
It was really odd in my opinion that with the big blowup over Edward Snowden, Booz Allen and the NSA, nobody managed to mention the fact that James Clapper himself was an executive with Booz Allen till he got the NSA gig.
As it is they’re creating their own justifications for spying on us with a complete lack of border control and a suicidal immigration policy.

JRandomFreeper was civil in his posts and you attacked him with the above drivel. Newbie, you joined on Nov. 19., and don’t even list the state in which you reside. Continuing also on other threads, to attack with nastiness one of the most respected Freepers on this board, our Johnny, will get you a ZOT. If you are not familiar with ZOTS, you best study to find out before you get one. Ignore this suggestion/advice at your peril.
Newbie, you joined on Nov.19. You won’t last long here if you continue to attack one of the most respected members on this board. You have attacked him on other threads as well as this one. He has great standing here and you have none. We don’t even know the state in which you reside. You should study the word, ZOT, and do your best not to get one.
Nope -- he spammed an irrelevant cut-and-paste comment, which I adapted and returned as an illustration of its inanity.
A lot of people on FR will care that this legislation is introduced by John Conyers. You leave that out for that reason. Full disclosure.

Johnny “spams”? HaHa, now that’s funny. Well, you have failed to take heed of my advice to a newbie, so keep being nasty to our long time members until you are out the door.
Actually, my impression is that only a few people here are stupid enough to be distracted by this sort of irrelevancy, and will instead focus on the need to pass the legislation and undo some of the damage to the Constitution.
