I guess this is not a huge surprise, or at least it shouldn't be. And I have a feeling that many retirees would be OK with this if there was a similar or larger cut in mind for the millions of Federal retirees that don't go out and put their lives on the line, in reality or potentially.

Instead, the deal includes this:

The 1% cut ends up saving the budget $6 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Congress would also make newly hired civilian federal workers contribute 1.3% more of their paychecks to pensions if the budget deal becomes law.

On the face of it, it sounds fair - its larger than teh military cut. Then you read in a little and realize that the military cut is on folks that have already enlisted or commissioned and served. The civilan side cut is ONLY to new hires - existing members of the Federal Bloatocracy are not subject to this.

So yeah, what could have been a fair and reasonable effort to trim costs for all becomes yet another gimme to the AFSCME types, and another middle finger tot eh military.

Even if ALL federal civilian employees had to contribut 1.3% more it’s still a joke.

They should be paying in their own money to the tune of closer to 80-90% like in the real world.

FU Paul Ryan you spineless POS!
