Better check because there are rules on food commerce. I asked our
local butcher where the chicken came from and if it was local, all he
could tell me was that his distributor brings it. Like Maine Lobster being
sold on the Pacific coast and vise-versa.
I'm not even sure you can buy local chicken from anywhere anymore, it's ILLEGAL
unless you buy the chicken and kill it yourself. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have an Amish farmer in Lancaster Co. Pa. that I buy my beef, pork and chickens from. He raises them on his farm and processes them right there. In fact, one time when I went there he said he was sold out of chickens but if I could wait he would get me one. He "processed" that chicken right in front of me. It was the freshest chicken (and tastiest) I ever bought.
I also have noticed that even some organic produce and meats are coming from China. I won't touch the stuff...

Here in SC its relatively easy to get a permit to sell processed home grown chickens. Personally we raise all our own meat and vegetables.

Thanks, I’ll ask. We’ve only purchased beef there in the past, not poultry.
