It’s never too early for a nice juicy straw poll, particularly if it’s of the presidential variety. The Tea Party Patriots have already drawn 250,000 voters to a survey listing potential 2016 hopefuls of interest to liberty-minded folk. The grass-roots group intends to drawn a million votes by March. Who’s leading this early, early match-up among undeclared candidates?
In front, it’s Sen. Ted Cruz; the Texas Republican has garnered 40 percent of the votes. He’s followed by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky with 21 percent, who is publicly wrestling with a White House run despite misgivings from his wife. In third place is Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker with 10 percent.
And yes, Sarah Palin is on the roster, drawing 6 percent of the votes. Just under a quarter of the voters indicated they were either undecided or have someone else in mind.
The poll is the proverbial shot across the bow to those who dismiss tea party influence or relevance.
“We need to show the liberal Democrats that we can - and we will - heavily support tea party candidates who are running to replace them,” says Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the organization, which represents 3,500 local groups.
“And even more importantly, we need to put liberal Republicans on notice. They need to know that if they don’t toe the line, we’ll replace them as well,” she adds.

Ted Cruz Ping List!
If you want on/off this ping list, please let me know.
Please beware, this is a high-volume ping list!
Even after the Mandingo funeral ??
LOL
Hmmm! Juan McCain’s hopes of being chosen again as the Whig party’s champion are probably on the rise.
Cruzin’!
If Cruz runs, he has a very good shot at getting the nod.
I’d like to hear an explanation from Cruz himself as to what he thought he was doing. IMHO he exposed himself as being fairly ignorant of history, which is really a surprise. Unless he has some better explanation, which I’d find very difficult to believe.
Poor McCain: five years in the Hotel Hanoi did irreparable damage to him. I wish him well.
I saw a couple of his more zealot supporters on this thread post that it had to do with his planning on running in 2016, as a positive
(It went like ”This means he's running, yipppee”).
I like Scott Walker. He went up against the union of soviet teachers and won. That enabled him to continue to put his state on a better fiscal basis than it had been for years. Senator Cruz is more dazzling speechwise, but sometimes his voting record confuses me.
I guess I like a slow hand that gets it right and know that sometimes the good guys finish last, albeit the people win if you stick with the program. That charms me more than silver words that don’t quite add up to my conservative leanings towards a leader who actually has a track record of looking out for the people’s fiscal interests and makes balancing a budget happen in real world time.
We need a budget in this country and we need it now. We need a tough but gentle man who can win against today’s ascerbic Marxists pushing the gimmie button.
Yeah right.
What exactly is it about his voting record?
Care to be factual?
Walker just doesn’t have the charisma to win as President. Look back in modern history and the most charismatic candidate almost always wins the general election. Walker is a no-nonsense, tough-as-nails type but can’t do the warm and fuzzy stuff well. He would make a great V.P. pick though, in the Cheney mold of a tougher guy who doesn’t come off as more if a lightweight than the top of the ticket.
Wait a minute! Straw polls are only relevant if someone like Christie is in the lead.
Ted Cruz is going to make an outstanding president. His character, intelligence, and leadership is exactly what America needs.
Beware of non backed-up crap like this from post #11:
“bla bla bla Senator Cruz is more dazzling speechwise, but sometimes his voting record confuses me.”

The GOP has to learn that you have the to run with the best that you have, and put aside the seniority factor. Sarah Palin probably would have been President today had they reversed the ticket in 2008. If your potential candidate is hot, run with it! Damn the MSM torpedoes, full steam ahead! (This is not an endorsement for Palin.) If Cruz is the HOT one, go with it. Put him against Hillary, he’s not Lazio, and believe me, they fear him BIG TIME! Soon there will be heavy flak over the target, you can count on it! Unfortunately it will be from both parties.
