As Congress restarts conversations about the federal budget and deficit reduction, the immigration reform debate is still front and center for many. As that debate unfolds, it is important to put some hard facts on the table. What are the costs and benefits of reform? What impact will reform have on economic growth and wages? How will immigration reform affect the federal budget?
A new study by the Bipartisan Policy Center Immigration Task Force found the evidence suggests that immigration reform can produce significant economic dividends for our country.
-snip-
A major finding of the study is that immigration reform would inject vitality into the nations workforce. While enactment of reform would add an estimated 13.7 million people to the U.S. population over the next twenty years, only six percent of these individuals would be aged 65 or older. Most would be very young compared to the rest of the U.S. population.
The addition of millions of new, younger workers would increase the ratio of workers to retirees and help our country respond to the fiscal challenges associated with an aging population. It would also spur demand for new housing as these workers form their own households and start families.

Mel Martinez—another Bushite gift that just keeps on giving. He’s for not just opening the door at the border, but pulling the door off the hinges and throwing it away.
With Republicans like this, who needs Dims?
“The addition of millions of new, younger workers would increase the ratio of workers to retirees”
Right, uneducated unskilled workers are going to save our economy.
“Reform”?
More like surrender.
Right... because adding a lot of workers who get paid under the table so as not to pay into Social Security and taxes really helps the economy. Couple that with an increase in minimum wage, and our economy should soar and unemployment will disappear.
“Right, uneducated unskilled workers are going to save our economy.”
How about more engineers, doctors and nurses from east asia ?
I already know your answer, “no, america is for americans”
Or How about more engineers, doctors and nurses from russia or europe ?
Yep, that’s the ticket.
These are the people who fail to grasp that a nation is more than an economy.
This was already tried under GWB and as a result NV, AZ, NM, all those states were hit the hardest with foreclosures when it collapsed,
As for saving the housing market, how can a group who entered and remained in this country by virtual of deception, fraud and assorted other illegalities transform a housing market - that has already been crippled by the similar deception, fraud and assorted other illegalities of the US Sub-Prime Housing Bubble and its collapse?
Sell your immigration myths or lies somewhere else!
How about this. Buy a house in foreclosure and pay at least 100k in cash, you get a green card.
Of course the answer is “if they are chinese, NOOOOOOOOO”
translation: Realtors are on-board with amnesty. Heck, illegals can purchase overpriced properties with shaky mortgages given by the bank under threat of retribution from Eric Holder as well as anyone else.
All I know is that my city and neighborhood is being taken over by mexicans.
And what the Dems think as nirvana with a permanent Dem majority will turn into a Dem nightmare. The Dem party will be irrevocably transformed. The "new legals" will bring their own brand of politics to the table of the DNC with their own list of demands. And the amount and depth of corruption just might make Nancy Pelosi blush.
This comes across as if illegal aliens never age,but everybody else does.
And still they turn a blind eye to their own definition of the great Ponzi scheme....
Nor will the unskilled help in any other area. Overload healthcare, schools, S.S., Section 8, WIC, etc. Not even discussed is the ‘lovely’ EITC = more funds sucked out of the taxpayers’ wallet.
No more housing needed they are already living in current housing.
enforce curent law against anyone hiring them with maximum penalities and they will be forced to leave or starve to death, I prefer the latter!
“Reform”/amnesty is about the 12-20 million low skilled, low income, minimally educated and government dependent - that Democrats want to support further redististribution policies, and country-club Republicans and crony capitalists want for cheap labor, whose subsistence wages are subsidized by taxpayer funded government entitlements.
And stop throwing up false straw-dog arguments to misrepresent the anti-Amnesty argument as ignorant or bigoted (against all foreigners). So far you've only shown that it's your pro-Amnesty argument that is ignorant and bigoted (against law respecting Americans).
Engineers, doctors, nurses or immigrants with “$100k in cash” to invests... don't make me laugh!
