Former CBS Evening News Anchor Dan Rather, despite being fired as a result of the bogus story, continues to maintain that he got it right in September 2004 when he aired forged documents concerning George W. Bushs record with the Air National Guard.
On CNNs Piers Morgan Live Monday, Rather said, No question the story was true (video follows with transcript and commentary):
PIERS MORGAN, HOST: Let's turn quickly to whats been going on at CBS, your old network. Your former colleague, Lara Logan, on leave of absence over this report from Benghazi. Many people believe theres a slight double standard at CBS in the way that you were treated in terms of the way you departed from CBS, and the way that Lara Logan has been treated, and the way they handled this crisis. What do you think?DAN RATHER: Well, first of all, CBS News has a lot to answer for this. There are a lot of questions. They have answered some of them. I don't want to in any way to add to their burden. I know what it feels like to be the correspondent who is the center of controversy when there are people both above and below you [unintelligible.]
But I will make this point: with our story, the one that led to our difficulty, no question the story was true. What the complaint and, while we, eventually most of us lost our jobs, was, okay, your story was true, but the way you got to the truth was flawed. The process was flawed. Thats not the case with the Benghazi story. Unfortunately and theres no joy in saying it - they were taken in by a man who was a fraud.
The dishonesty here is extraordinary.
The documents Rather presented that fateful night in September 2004 were clearly forgeries. Not one person has come forward since proving they weren't.
Yet here he is nine years later saying on national television, "No question the story was true."
And Morgan didn't challenge him at all.
Is this really what passes for journalism in our country today?
Oh, but Hussein is a great leader, don’t cha know.
Journalists?
Morgan and Rather are no journalists.
Buckhead?
But he gets no blow back.
What’s the common denominator?
MSM and the entrenched political machine.
She looka-like-a-man.
She looka-like-a-man.

I’d bet she prefers women, too.
I’m so done with this (this got me banned back then), I only have one pertinent comment:
If the media put 1/10th that effort in vetting the current POTUS/POS...
Cliché, I know, and probably parroting other comments.
Yada, yada...
And Algore comes out every once in awhile to say, “See? I told you so!” and goes back to his hole, too...

” Is this really what passes for journalism in our country today?”
Sadly, yes.
“Journists” see themselves as “shapers of opinion”.
Nothing else matters to them beyond that.
The Liberals never give up and never accept defeat. Rather will keep on repeating the lie until it is eventually accepted as the truth.
The Liberals are always telling others to “move on,” but they themselves can never let go. It took them 100 years to pass government controlled healthcare (ObamaCare). It will probably end up destroying the Democrat party, but they will never admit it.
After numerous defeats in the courts and in Congress, the Liberals are still pressing ahead on gun control.
You can never compromise with a liberal. That will only be the starting point for their next push. The only way to stop a liberal is to completely destroy them. The republicans should go after the Democrats on ObamaCare and pursue anyone who has ever spoken in favor of ObamaCare. These people should be chased out of the public domain (politics or the media) forever.
Every single one of the memos to file regarding Bush's failure to attend a physical and meet other requirements is in a proportionally spaced font, probably Palatino or Times New Roman. In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing (especially in the military), and typewriters used mono-spaced fonts.
The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction high-end word processing systems from Xerox and Wang, and later of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90's.
Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn't used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang and other systems that were dominant in the mid 80's used mono-spaced fonts. I doubt the TANG had typesetting or high-end 1st generation word processing systems.
I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old. This should be pursued aggressively. "
Dear Dan:
Cool story, bro.
Best,
Rich
Once a respected newsman... now just an old, pathetic nutcase. If ever there was a reason to banish someone to the Old Liberals’ Retirement Home, this is it. Dan’s dementia is showing and he’s wandering again. someone needs to give him his meds and get him back to his cell.
But, you see, this isn't about journalism. It is so that when the time comes that someone does a post-mortem on this mess, the preponderance of "evidence" will be lies. It is the preemptive skewing of the record so that even if the truth cannot be purged, it can be buried in a dungheap of nonsense, and that nonsense will prevail as the myth known as 'history'.
Watched this unravel the night it happened. Freeper “Buckhead” fired first shot and it all went viral after that. Rather and his lying b&$ch Mary Mapes couldn’t get the toothpaste back in the tube after that
