PICKENS, S.C. (AP) — Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark said he won’t lower the flag outside his sheriff’s office to half-staff to honor Nelson Mandela because the South African civil rights leader was not a United States citizen.

We were having a “water cooler” discussion about this at work today. The general consensus was that the flag should not be at half-staff for this fellow. I followed that up by saying that “Mandela was a commie”. The others around the cooler said, “That is what you always say”. I said, “Yeah, but I am always right about it when I do”.
Good for him.
Not only was he not an American he was a terrorist killer, with a Lifelong hatred of whites.
Watching these politicians suck up to him is sickening.
I happen to agree with the Sheriff. However an even bigger point is Mandela is not worthy of such an honor in fact he is a real POS. For all the crap that is spewed on Apartheid and ‘racism’ somebody needs to show me how this SOB and the resulting system is a good thing?

How about because he was a murderer? Or a redistributionist thief? John Donne was wrong. Mandela's death in no manner diminishes me. In fact, there are millions whose deaths would do exactly the opposite.

The half staff flag honor is so over used that it has no meaning. Flags are at half staff for sometimes frivolous reasons. The honor should be reserved for true national mourning not to honor foreign dignitaries.
It has been done about 6 times IIRC.
I agree. I pass a flag pole that is half staff so often that I have trouble figuring out why it is. The other day, I thought it was because of Pearl Harbor. Foolish me.

Instead of flags at half staff, we should have a day of national thanksgiving that the creature has shuffled off this mortal coil.
