Thirty years of shrinking Arctic sea ice has boosted extreme summer weather, including heat waves and drought, in the United States and elsewhere, according to a study published today (Dec. 8) in the journal Nature Climate Change.
The new study — based on satellite tracking of sea ice, snow cover and weather trends since 1979 — links the Arctic's warming climate to shifting weather patterns in the Northern Hemisphere's midlatitudes.
"The results of our new study provide further support and evidence for rapid Arctic warming contributing to the observed increased frequency and intensity of heat waves," said study co-author Jennifer Francis, an atmospheric scientist at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Most climate scientists today are funded from green resources - a fact that skews the results of their research. I'm tired of the fear mongering and really would like good unbiased science to prevail.
The last data evaluated for use in this study was from several years ago. In the past year the ice sheet has grown, not shrunken, as some commenters have pointed out.

Anybody who believes government-paid “:sientists” usiong government-paid grants to generate justification of increased government-benefiting tax hikes of 1.3 trillon per year needs to show me their math and thermodynamics calculations.
1. Antarctic sea ice is now, and has the past three years! - been setting all-time record highs for sea ice extents, and, if present trends continue, may require closing the Cape Horn to sea traffic within 8-12 years at times of peak sea ice. At the edge of increasing antarctic sea ice at 60 south latitude, increased reflection from ever-larger areas of sea ice means ever greater heat losses to space every month.
2. Arctic sea ice is at its yearly minimum in mid-September near the equinox. At that time, sea ice is right at 3.5 million sq km’s, or a “cap” approximating a cover of the arctic whose edge is between 82 and 81 degrees north latitude. At that position, at that time of year, there is more heat LOST due to increased evaporation, increased radiation, increased convection and increased conduction losses from wind and waves than can be gained from the (slight) change in albedo from the newly exposed ocean than from ice-covered arctic waters.
At the edge of decreasing arctic sea ice at 81-82 north latitudes, increased heat losses from ever-smaller areas of sea ice means greater heat losses to space every month.

Looks like the science departments are getting compromised too. Satellite/aerial recon photos of the Arctic Ocean show sea ice growing earlier and larger than ever before, but why should any twit researcher be concerned with the facts.
DO NOT UNESTIMATE THE DEGREE OF PENETRATION OF ACADEMIA THAT THE COMMUNISTS, MARXISTS, SOCIALISTS, PROGRESSIVES AND JUST DUMB/BLIND LIBERAL AHOLES HAVE MADE OVER THE PAST 50 YEARS. IT IS STAGGERING AND GROWING.
Just look at who teachers at Columbia University, NYU, Un. of Mass (Ignatiev just retired); Georgetown Un/law school, Un. of Wisconsin (more like a Hanoi outpost for propaganda); UCLA (pick a cesspool campus, or all of them); etc.
Hopefully, in the near future, a list of communist and leftwing nuts and jihadist supporters will be forthcoming. It is badly needd and if it does appear, you will be shocked at who is teaching where.

Polar warming and ice cap reduction has been a fact over the last couple of decades. Last year and this winter to date seem to be going the other way. I’m quite curious as to why. Unfortunately, in an age when research is funded and conclusions are dictated by commercial and political conclusions, I don’t expect much will be free of bias.
I’m toying with (Anthrotepiphobia) as a term for warming kooks. How does it sound? We need a word that identifies the fear of anthropogenic global warming as a mental disorder.
