The real victims [the besmirched family] should sue her in civil court for defamation, and go for whatever can be squeezed out of her turnips. Probably not enough to make a court case worthwhile. Probably they just — rightfully — want this particular nightmare to be over —
sue her in small claims court then, or take it to Judge Judy . . .
SOMETHING yes, needs to be done beyond her being justly fired.
Go for it, put her and her ilk in place, make an example, just do not let it drop at being justly fired.
Sue the restaurant as well.
Since she didn't identify the family, I don't think they can sure her for that. As far as I know, their identities have still not been revealed.

We should bring back corporal punishment, I don't mean the barbaric kind like Mooselimb whipping or stoning but perhaps stocks. Humiliating but fairly painless.
I beg to differ.. She, and her antics, have done more damage to her and her cause then anything the opposition could have done in a hundred years..
The real culprit is the MEDIA that echos these rumors as if they confirm something that fits their agenda, and gets them crushed in the end more often than not..
