Here in northern NJ the urban areas need the artificial economy that comes with government-sponsored schools, entertainment venues, and government offices (they are the last “economy” left - though this happens to be a private school). The viable private-sector tax base is gone, and chasing out the last consumers with this nonsense is a bad idea (though I doubt the thugs analyze it this way).
