Looks like the Russians have backed the winner here. Sometimes the tyrant you know is better than the crazy wild eyed fanatic you might get saddled with.

I always preferred Assad. A bloodthirsty, corrupt, fascist, SECULAR dictator is always preferable to a bloodthirsty, corrupt theocracy.
A lot of other weird stuff was at play, too. Pipelines, Sunni vs. Shia, etc. But the US shouldn’t play “The Great Game.” We should play a straight game, doing what is right because it is right.
Summation of the fight so far:
You are right, the Russians are the biggest winner, keeping ports in the Mediterranean Sea.
Hezbollah killing Al Qaeda and wannabes. A plug for all.
Hamas probably losing some veteran fighters too. A plus.
Moderates losing because the US stabbed them in the back (aka Bay of Pigs).
Christians hurt but still fighting for Assad, as are other ethnic/religious minorities.
Islamist atrocities seen on videos around the world. Exposes them eventhough the US media ignores most of it.
Israel not happy with the war but likes the evil ones killing each other. Gives them a chance to take out anti-aircraft missiles going to Hezbollah and killing either Syrian soldiers or Hezbollah soldiers escorting the arms. A win-win for Israel.
The US - total failure all the way around, for Obama, Hillary, Kerry, Dempsey, McDonough, Donilon, Clapper, Brennan, Rice, Powers, and all the other fools in the administration.
Welcome to Libya, Part Deux, Obamites!
