Moronic public officials spend billions of taxpayer dollars on a pork barrel public works project, and design it so the residents can't use it.

“Smart Growth” advocates sound pretty stupid.

Even in Japan, which has used public transportation for decades, they have the sense to design railway stations according to the 15/15 rule:

People will walk a maximum of 15 minutes to get to a station. They will wait a maximum of 15 minutes for a bus to take them there.

Yes, the tolerance will be a little longer in remote rural areas which do not have much in the way of bus lines or rail service, but they will often drive or be driven to the bus terminal or rail station.

The money would be better spent just keeping the equipment they already have in good repair. How about just fixing the escalators so they all work? Or how about replacing rail cars so things don’t fall off of them once a month, and so that it doesn’t look like a third world commuter system? Its the capital of the country, it is embarrassing.

Social engineering.

Rather than create a system would want to use, they create a system to make us conform to their ideal world view.

To the left automobiles are evil so let us do everything to make owning an automobile inconvenient.

For all of the credential waving and chest thumping by our NOVA residents, you would think we could do a better job of planning...

taxpayer dollars

And tolls. It costs $1 to get on the toll road, go 10 miles or less, pay another $1.75 to go a couple more miles. Instead people clog up 66 making my commute even more miserable.

OK, let's build a commuter train, but don't put parking lots at the stations...that only encourages more driving...

By definition, half the population is of below average intelligence .. inclusion in same being an apparent prerequisite for many .gov positions.

Years ago, when I ran for State Rep. in Connecticut, I was asked how I would approach improvements to Route 10 in Cheshire. They were at first dumb-founded when I stated that I didn’t want to “improve” route 10, as that would just encourage a lot of people to go from Hamden to Waterbury, that “If you build it they will come”. It never occurred to the reporter panel that NOT building is an option, too.

If Tyson’s Corner doesn’t want more traffic, maybe it shouldn’t have a Metro stop.

What is ironic is that you will never (never, not ever) find the “Smart Growth Gurus” using these facilities....finding one using the planned facilities is about as probable as finding Gore driving a Prius and riding coach on an airline.

Fairfax officials did not include parking garages at the four Silver Line stations in Tysons.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. If they want to reduce the traffic on the roads to DC, they should make it EASIER for folks to take public transportation, not HARDER!

Why not just build a parking garage OVER the train station, and charge for parking? Folks taking the Commuter rail, or park at any T station in the Metro Boston area pay $4 a day, for open parking.

A fifth station, Wiehle Avenue, in Reston, will have an underground parking garage with 2,300 spaces.

Oh, I see, it was just the parking nazis in Tyson's Corner who didn't want folks driving into their fair city. Sounds like Cambridge MA.

Hmmmm. No parking places?

Are you sure the idea isn't to get the deprived inner city people and youts into Tyson's Corner? They don't need parking spaces in Tyson's Corner to take advantage of the "better" life. Therefore, they didn't put in many parking spaces when they planned it out.

Aren't we perhaps looking at this backwards?

I've been watching this engineering miracle take place for the past few years. With the millions of square feet of office space and now new high rise apartments going up, I've speculated they think people are going to park at the other end of the various lines; Tysons is the new destination.

This ______ is hilarious!!!!!! Blowing taxpayers money at its finest. Here the libs want people (meaning Federal drones) to use rail instead of automobiles to commute to their awesome jobs but they make it very hard to drive/park at the brand new DC Metro station.

The contractors and hacks got paid off so what do they care?
