The brutal truth of the matter is that a little survival of the fittest in everyday life is far better in the long run for everyone, children especially.
A nation that ‘holds down the safety valves’ is merely setting the scene for a bigger blowup. Be that be banning guns instead of letting Darwin do a little housecleaning, or sterilizing our households to near-hospital standards because we’re scared silly of Bobby getting the sniffles. Sooner or later the ‘pressure’ will let out in one big disaster.
Immune systems are like muscles, use them or lose them.
And if you lose them enough, eventually your immune system can be knocked over by the bacterial equivalent of a 90-lb weakling.
I used to eat it every day when I got home from school until I was 7 and one day I put the sandwich in my mouth and almost threw up.
That was 70 years ago and to this day I can't stand the smell of the crap!
I eat peanuts but peanut butter turns my guts inside out by smelling it!

My beautiful daughter has a severe peanut allergy and has had 2 near-misses.
I certainly am not a fascist, I don't want to control anyone else's life, but this is no joke to me and mine.
