Why does a police department which hasnt had an officer killed in the line of duty in over 125 years in a town of less than 20,000 people need tactical military vests like those used by soldiers in Afghanistan? For that matter, why does a police department in a city of 35,000 people need a military-grade helicopter? And what possible use could police at Ohio State University have for acquiring a heavily-armored vehicle intended to withstand IED blasts?
Why are police departments across the country acquiring heavy-duty military equipment and weaponry? For the same reason that perfectly good roads get repaved, perfectly good equipment gets retired and replaced, and perfectly good employees spend their days twiddling their thumbsand all of it at taxpayer expense. Its called make-work programs, except in this case, instead of unnecessary busy work to keep people employed, communities across America are finding themselves gifted with drones, tanks, grenade launchers and other military equipment better suited to the battlefield. And as I document in my book, A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, its all being done through federal programs that allow the military to gift battlefield-appropriate weapons, vehicles and equipment to domestic police departments across the country.

The public should have the right to have any weapon their police force has............
Americans will never wake up until too late. We have been moving towards a police State for many years. The police should not have any weapon that its citizens can rightfully have. No greater and no lesser.
My kid is a Marine. He rides around in a 22000-pound Light Armored Vehicle, which seems to have been designed for invading sandy places. It’s a fearsome piece of machinery, equipped with an array of dreadful guns that he has been trained to shoot. If necessary, he can use those guns to cut a building in half.
Hence, I’d like to know why the police department of rural Culpeper, Virginia, had to acquire a vehicle very much like my son’s LAV. What nation are the obese cops of this little Virginia town planning to invade? What meth lab is so huge that they need a vehicle like this? And why do the taxpayers have to purchase a piece of equipment suitable for slaughtering the howling hordes of Allah?
The same questions could fairly be asked of many municipalities that are blowing tax dollars on expensive military hardware.
All I can say is, I was seriously thinking of moving to Culpeper. But not any longer.
next the Dunkin’ Donuts will have razor wire.
This has nothing to do with the police. DHS is using police as an excuse to stage military equipment around the country so it will be ready when Ubama declares martial law and deploys his civilian army to begin the final redistribution.

They are getting ready at every level for when they finish monetizing the debt and we turn into the Weimar Republic.
Homeland Security will be the next Waffen SS. It could happen.
Unfortunately, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies are using the letter of the law to defeat the spirit of the law by arming cops with state of the art military hardware and our elected officials are enabling this nonsense.
The biggest law breakers alive today are the law makers!!!
Excuse me, but “we the people” have that right by gift of God.
We the people have given no such power to those who could be overlords. Bureaucrats have usurped the power that the people have not relinquished. The people must insure they are never outgunned or outmanned by any force not even the Army.

This is perfect. The enemy is positioning our assets for us.
It’s the taxpayers money which bought the equipment for the armed services so where is my share as a taxpayer in getting some of that equipment. A nice flame thrower would be nice to have.
I believe that Posse Comitatus only applies to the Army, not AF, not USMC, I think.
