The filibuster is far from a “procedural gimmick.” It is part of the fabric of this institution. It was well known in colonial legislatures, and it is an integral part of our country’s 217 years of history.

Here's something to share with your liberal acquaintances. Reid makes a very strong argument that the Senate filibuster rules must not change.

So either Reid was shamelessly lying then, or he's shamelessly lying now.

The fool does not have a clue what he has done. He has now set a precedent. Filibuster is now dead. All the Republicans need now is 51 Senators to overturn Obamacare. They can now use the same Reid Option to overturn a Presidential Veto. What an idiot. What’s good for the goose....

Reid shamelessly lies all the time, then and now. Every word he utters is not based on truth but is based on what he wants.

The Dems will rue this day. Right now the GOP holds one half of the legislative branch and can stop or slow down things in spite of losing the filibuster. But if the GOP gains a majority in the Senate in 2014, the Dems in Congress will not be able to stop anything if the GOP presses.

Since the Dems think the Constitution is outdated, perhaps the GOP should propose that a sitting POTUS that has been impeached by the House can be removed from office by the Senate with a simple majority vote. Super majorities are so not 21st century don’t you know.

Ok great... do you think mcconnell is going to repeal obamaumaocare-— not likely. Ted Cruz is trying and this should “call out” all the little toadies, and if 51 do this, and House approves... then obamaumao is forced to veto the true will of the people, and then have his veto overridden.

It takes mere fortitude to do this... so who has it? That and enough scared lying dems up for re-elect, with their own little “fixes” in attempt to get re-elected and fool their voters. The play has to be complete repeal... not affordable and the details of the enacting legislation and rules of the law exposed in detail. Timing to 100 million cancellations (1/3 of the country population driven off of their choice in insurance and forced to pay for crap they neither want or need).

Reid & Co. will simply claim that he used it only for nominations, because of anti-American obstructionist GOP extremists. He would never have used it for legislation.

Two thirds to overcome a veto is not a Senate rule. It is in the Constitution. It would require an Amendment to change. Hannity missed that one too.

You can’t change impeachment without amending the Constitution.

The Constitution, Article I, Section 3:
The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

I don't know about that, but the timing here is very odd. I suspect that Reid did this right now to take some of the attention away from the Obamacare disaster.

And there is something else to be alert for. I'll bet Obama is getting ready to appoint a ton of ultra far-left federal judges. This maneuver clears the way.

Don’t worry! If Cruz becomes prez, and the dems still hold the senate, they’ll change the rule back on the last day of their session in 2016. And, if they lose the Senate in 2014, they’ll change the rule back right before they adjourn.

I’m very curious to see which Dems up for reelection might support these far left judges. The more scorched earth these specks of disease go, the worse 2014 will be for them. They know that.

If the GOP can somehow wise up and veer to the right this upcoming election, I could see massive losses for the Ds this fall ... I know the election is an eternity away, but it almost seems like the Dems have to pander to the lowest depths of their sickening base at this point given all of the failures surrounding their messiah!

Something else ... I can’t see Obama remaining President if they sustain heavy losses in 2014. A significant fraction of the Democratic party will more than likely beg him to step down if they lose a significant number of seats in the House and Senate. He’d almost *have* to resign at that point. I’m sure they’d cover that up by getting him a comfy, useless position like Sec. General of the UN.

The man simply cannot lead, he can only dictate. What a sick way to go through life.
