It’s a multicultural milestone. Or is that millstone? Either way a teenage girl is dead because she believed her teachers and politicians who told her that the new immigrants were just as English as she was and might even have superior cultural values.
Laura Wilson was just 17-years-old when she was stabbed to death next to a canal in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, in 2010.
This wasn’t a mugging gone wrong, or a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In fact, the mother-of-one was the victim of Britain’s first white honour killing. Her death was premeditated murder, plotted and committed by the boyfriend she was madly in love with.
Laura’s crime was to bring dishonour on her Muslim lover Ashtiaq Ashgar, 21, who is now serving a life sentence for the brutal murder.
Her sister, Sarah, reveals on tonight’s episode of Britain’s Darkest Taboos on Crime & Investigation Network: ‘She loved him. She worshipped the ground he walked on, she really did. She would have done anything for him.’
Ashtiaq came from a traditional Muslim family who were planning an arranged marriage for their son with a girl from Pakistan.
When Laura found out that he has been seeing other girls, they broke up and she slept with this married friend, 22-year-old Ishaq ‘Zac’ Hussein, to make him jealous.
Only 16, she fell pregnant as a result of the fling and had a daughter, Alicia. Zac refused to acknowledge he was the father.
After Alicia is born, Laura and Ashtiaq rekindled their relationship but he insisted it must continue to be a secret. But while Laura was very much in love, her mother, Maggie, believes Ashtiaq was just using Laura for sex and treated her badly.
She said: ‘I heard a phone conversation between Laura and Ashtiaq, Laura telling him how much he loved him and he was just so nasty. You could hear Laura crying in the background. He was saying just how much he hated her and that he’d got another girl, and he wasn’t interested in her and she’s shouting back “I love ya, I love ya…”. He used Laura I think at the end.’
Laura soon became sick of being Ashtiaq secret and on October 6, 2010, fuelled by alcohol, she and her sister made the fatal mistake of revealing all to his family.
They knocked on his mother’s door and told her what was going on.
Sarah recalls: ‘Laura told her that she wanted to marry him, but his mother got aggressive and hit her with a shoe, calling her “a dirty white b****”.’
Two days later, Laura’s body was found in the canal. She had more than 40 stab wounds, most of those to the head, and some were defence wounds.
On December 21 the judge sentenced 18-year-old Ashtiaq to 17-and-a-half years imprisonment for Laura’s murder.
‘He showed no remorse, just upset at the amount of time he got in jail,’ says Maggie.
Why should he? In Islamic culture, women, especially non-Muslim ones, have no value. The UK is filled with Pakistani, Afghani and Somali settlers who live by the values of their home countries and inflict those values on the natives as they colonize the physical and social territory of the United Kingdom.
Wait, 17 1/2 years? For first degree murder?
This is what the hippies have wrought. Swinging London. Carnaby Street. Mod.

I was hoping for 17 and 3/4 but the death penalty would have been better.

Sounds like the “United Kingdom” is not so united any longer and soon, we will see the same thing happening here in America. I loved the Australian Prim Minister who told the “foreigners” that if they don’t like the Australian ways, LEAVE. Might be a good start in both England and the U.S.

So,,,, which is it? Life? Or 17 1/2 years? If he’ll be out when he’s 35,,,, that’s hardly a “life” sentence!
I hate to say this, but it would only be just if it turned into a death sentence ---if he's killed in jail.
May the Lord bring him to repentance. May the Lord bring all of us to repentance. May the Lord give us better hearts.
I would settle for 17 years if the judge had ordered that Ashtiaq under go breast implant surgry before he started his jail term. ;-)
After she sleeps with his married friend to get even and he strings her along while being abusive to her, she is pregnant but won’t name the father and then she shows up at his mothers house “fueled by alcohol,” I am thinking it’s the Jerry Springer show. We actually have family feuds in the US which end up with murder - we don’t need to import any more, thank you.
Of course it doesn’t justify killing and a family loses it’s daughter, a child loses its mother...it’s all horrible but there isn’t alot that’s distinctively Muslim here, IMHO, except the rationale for the killing or shall I say, the belief that there is a justifiable rationale for killing?
I’m not sure which of these two was the craziest.
She's 17 years old. She's shacking up with her boyfriend who considers her an infidel. She's already had a child with the boyfriend's "married friend" just to make him jealous. She and her sister get drunk and go to the boyfriend's house and confront his mother.
Anybody see anything wrong with this???
Where are her parents???
What are their values???
And the people of the 21st century UK don't have any better sense than this??? (Not that contemporary Americans are any smarter.)

In Norway, On 24 August 2012 Anders Breivik, who murdered nearly 70 people in a mass shooting rage, was adjudged sane and sentenced to containment — a special form of a prison sentence that can be extended indefinitely — with a time frame of 21 years and a minimum time of 10 years, the maximum penalty in Norway.
Texas, these countries ain’t.

More like revenge or jealousy killing. Horrible, but not something entirely new in the world.
Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that.
It might sound like “blaming the victim” but the girl was abysmally stupid and her parents criminally negligent.
I know it sounds harsh, but don't worry, he'll be out by Ramadan with good behavior.
