Amtrak Train 644 that left 30th Street Station for New York City accidentally ended up on the SEPTA tracks

Actually, those are also Amtrak tracks. Probably someone threw the wrong switch at 30th Street station. Bala Cynwyd is the first stop down that line.

New York, Bala Cynwyd.

Aside from a few hundred skyscrapers and about 7 million people, what difference does it make?

Steve Kulm, Amtrak’s Media Relations Director released a statement which read in part: “An investigation was launched and the crew has been held out of work until they can be fully debriefed and additional training can be conducted.”

Oh, look.... Mr Kulm made a joke. I bet all those affected didn't find it too funny.

I liked train travel. Great way to see the US provided you have the time. But like everything else government touches, AMTRAK is a mess.

I am just glad there is a Bala Cynwyd in PA - otherwise I would be REAL curious how that train made it all the way to Wales.

Train crews don't control track switches from the cab.

Sounds like a dispatcher error.

“.... the 130 passengers on-board ....”

Strange that these “130 passengers on-board” didn’t mention anything at all. No instant tweets, no text, nothing. Until the news broke now.

As if they can’t tell the difference of NYC or Bala Cynwyd. Or worse, the passengers expect the foul up as nothing unusual.
