I wonder if Pastor Rick Warren’s family will be able to minister to the Deeds family in a unique and personal way.

what is confusing to me is that there are usually private psychiatric hospitals and this family certainly had the money...I believe the ER screwed up big time on this one.

As usual the media is speculating, guessing, and making stuff up. It may be two or three days before the public finds out what really happened.

I will wait to hear from a news organization before I believe anything about the story then.

Mental illness is one of the most difficult situations to deal with and there are rarely perfect outcomes even as there are rarely tragedies such as these. From a health care perspective it’s not easy and I have seen private facilities refuse patients who have any history of violence because they are too difficult to deal with. State hospitals are more equipped from a personnel (and liability) standpoint to deal with problem patients. From a law enforcement perspective there are no easy ways to handle the mentally ill outside of taking them into protective custody and hoping for the best when they get to a hospital. From a family perspective it’s a nightmare.

There are no easy answers. Families used to take care of family members with mental illness, but that is no longer as common (or easy) in today’s world that often overstimulates people with mental illness, overmedicates them changing their brain chemistry, offers endless amounts of other substances and things to abuse, and occurs in a world where we are indoctrinated to let “professionals” deal with the problem.

Yep. Nothing funny about the story.

I didn’t know how to spell it in Japanese.

But I remember Cubs win, Cubs win, Cubs win!

hopefully they learn what really happened.

could be a family argument.

could be someone else went after the senator quietly and the son wound up coming in.

we’ll probably know soon enough.

Yes. Knives are personal. But plenty of assassinations have been done with knives.

Difference is how the knife is used. The more personal it is, the more they hack away at the person. Especially the neck and face. At least that’s what the cops say.

Only to a point do they transcend politics.

I wouldn’t be crying if Hitler Junior offed his dad.

I wouldn’t be asking for prayers if Mooch offed Obama.

The son wanted a bigger piece of the kick backs. When that didn’t happen, things got ugly.

"What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys. See you later. Can I have them please?"

Which is, sadly, what the son appeared to do.

There is no reason for you to know how to spell it in Japanese...I was being a smart ass. I apologize. Also I remember Cubs win! Cubs win! also. Harry was one of a kind. And he did love his cubs.

Deceptive (deliberately I believe) headline. Should read “Sen Deeds stabbed to death by son who then commits suicide”

For a state senator’s son...right. There is more to this release, and the magistrate, would wager.

Trying to steal some money , likely, and Dad mistook him for a burglar, which he likely was.

The son seems to have had a history of mental problems. Maybe the dad decided to have him committed to a sanitarium. Beyond that, I don’t konw anything about the Deeds family.
