Like the Inner Party in Oceania, “2+2=5” when it suits the party.
But when it comes to his safety, his math is impeccable.
But he sounds so ‘reasonable’ when he speaks, so it doesn't really matter. (sarc)
Actually, this is part of the whole sales pitch. His voice intonation and controlled mannerisms are, in my opinion, part of a practiced persona - to sound reasonable and be reassuring. It has worked, on a large number of people.
