I say “No”.....The one thing that will destroy baseball is if the integrity of the game is brought into question....having harsh penalties for throwing/betting on games is the only way to protect the game.

I understand where you are coming from, but I have a question. Should we treat steroids, or domestic violence in the same manner?

The concept of protecting baseball’s integrity was thrown away when the MBA refused to throw out the records of all the players who set records while on the various steroids and HGH.
I agree. If fans cannot trust that the game is on the up-and-up, then baseball is no better than wrestling.
But baseball lost its integrity when the juiced up players started shattering the records of past players.
When I was coaching HS baseball, one of the coaches was really high on his “mission” to help restore Rose’s status. I thought it was a terrible example for the kids. At least it was clear to them that there are to sides to this issue.
