In May 2012 campaign ad, Obama aide said, 'If you like your plan and you want to keep it, you can'

During the 2012 presidential campaign, Republicans claimed that the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, would cause millions of people to lose their current health insurance plans.

In a May 17, 2012, "truth team" response ad, then-Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter called this claim "flat-out wrong," stating:

Well, here we are again. Karl Rove's group Crossroads is spending $25 million from secret donors to tear down the president in a new ad out today. Time to tear this thing apart ... The ad talks about health care, and you'll like this one because we've heard it before: It says that you won't be able to keep the insurance plan that you have. Now that's just flat-out wrong. If you like your plan and you want to keep it, you can. In fact, the president made that plan stronger.

We know know that the campaign's claim was a lie, and a particularly audacious one, too, since they were claiming it was untrue that under Obamacare millions of Americans would lose insurance coverage they wanted to keep.

The word "lie" is not being used lightly here, either. As the Wall Street Journal first reported, Obama's top aides specifically ruled out a more honest approach on the issue:

"Officials worried, though, that delving into details such as the small number of people who might lose insurance could be confusing and would clutter the president's message ... The former official added that in the midst of a hard-fought political debate 'if you like your plan, you can probably keep it' isn't a salable point.' "

We've embedded the clip, editing it down to just the section relating to the claim. The full video can be seen here.

Oct 11, 2012 - Townhall: "On CNN this afternoon, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, managed to record what might be the most offensive and out-of-touch soundbite to come out of this election cycle. Speaking with Brooke Baldwin about the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Libya that claimed the lives of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others, Cutter actually had the gall to say that this is only an issue because Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are making it one:

In terms of the politicization of this — you know, we are here at a debate, and I hope we get to talk about the debate — but the entire reason this has become the political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It’s a big part of their stump speech. And it’s reckless and irresponsible what they’re doing......

I like this part, “Obama’s top aides specifically ruled out a more honest approach on the issue:” The top aides were the liars? So once again Obama didn’t know anything about this until long after he said it 36+ times.

...”Top American lawyer and author Andrew McCarthy, who prosecuted the World Trade Center bombers after the 1993 attacks, accused Barack Obama of serial fraud tonight on The Kelly Files. Andrew told Megyn Kelly:

“If ever there has been a fraud on the entire American people it’s this one. And, I would say, Megyn, this business about, “you want your plan, you keep your plan,” is just the beginning of it… We’re talking about serial fraud on multiple levels and multiple level misrepresentations… This is an ‘in your face’ almost a crude fraud… The remedy the Framers gave us for reigning in executive excess especially if it gets this abusive is impeachment. Impeachment is a political remedy not a legal remedy… This is a big scandalous scheme and the more you look at it, systematic dishonesty is rife all the way through it.” ...

Andrew is right again. Bernie Madoff(sp) should be released from prison and his sentence commuted. By comparison to Obama, Bernie was guilty of jay walking.

Rush hasn’t called for it, but he’s begun using the word impeachable in his commentary to describe this fraud.

The voters will know that the Democrat/Reid controlled Senate refused to be held accountable or to hold Obama accountable - and the clip of former House Speaker Pelosi "You must pass it to find out what's in it" will live in infamy. All the nasty anti-GOP, anti-conservative commentary from the Left and the Obama-compliant media has people flocking to Fox News to get their news.

Correct, but Obunga would forever have as asterisk by his name. *Impeached by the House of Representatives. That would eat away at the little narcissistic bitch.

Good point in your post #6. I must correct myself. Senate only votes to convict.

How could they keep a now “illegal” plan? Oboobacare says the policies MUST have all these frills, so those people are being dropped because the policy isn’t within Oboobacare standards. What’s to keep?? If they did keep their policies with the wonderful frills added on...the cost would double or more. Obama is the worst liar I’ve ever seen in the White House in all my years. Incredible that anyone still wants him there. Says something very sad for our country :<(
