Bill Clinton: 'President Should Honor the Commitment' and Let People Keep Their Insurance Plans
The Weekly Standard ^ | November12,2013 | Daniel Halper

Posted on 11/12/2013 7:28:00 AM PST by Hojczyk

Former President Bill Clinton said that President Obama should keep his pledge to allow people to keep their current health care plans, if they like them, under Obamacare:

"So I personally believe, even if it takes a change to the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got," said Clinton in a recent interview.

Clinton has, in general, been a strong supporter of Obamacare.

The law in it’s entirety is what led to this. It’s not one line or one page that needs to be changed. The entire basis of Obamacare is government central planning decide exactly what is covered. No one can keep their old plan as is because the ability to chose ones own plan is removed by government forcing more coverage and dictating what is covered ‘free’. There is no way Obama or the Democrats are going to do a 180 and remove that power. The left waited nearly 100 years to get it.

The problem is the damage is already done. Even if Obama wanted the plans restored it is extremely doubtful he could do anything to make that happen. The fact of the matter is that many insurance companies have gotten out of the individual market entirely and even for those that haven't, reconstituting canceled policies is no easy task, because the policies would have to be vetted and approved by the state insurance commissions, a process that could take up to a year.

LOL! Only problem is(is?), billy boy, that according to the lyin’ king, he never actually said that and us peons were too stupid to understand what he was “making perfectly clear. Period.”. He was just kidding? He was being satirical? Sometimes a positive is in reality a negative? I still think it was Reagan’s fault. If he just hadn’t called for the Berlin Wall to come down, none of this would ever have happened.

Easier said than done. Hard to undo cancelled policies. And recreate trimmed networks.

Bill Clinton, who is very politically savvy and shrewd, is basically telling Obama he needs to do something if he doesn’t want an electoral blowout.

Popcorn time. After what happened to Ted Cruz proposing the same thing, the Republicans should sit back and let the Democrats muster the circular firing squad this time.

Yet Hillary care was to take everyone’s plan away. Don’t allow these filthy corrupt Clintons to play hero.

What’s the Clintons’ end game on this? They’re not dumb people and would know that this will undermine the exchanges and solvency of the program further and faster.

Maybe the “Its not working because we’re not the ones doing it” gambit in support of Hillary’s 2016 campaign?

It’s been pretty obvious that Obama stubbornly refuses to change ANYTHING in his piece of sh — , er, “signature legislation.” This comment by Bill is NOT going to go over well at the White House.

It’s to late. All the insurance companies have spent a pile of money conforming to Dear Leaders demands.

If he backs out now, I envision the insurance companies walking away, telling him to kiss azz.

Either way, we are going to see the death spiral of private insurance. No one can afford it now that Obama has raped it.

Trial balloon. It really doesn't take a revision to the laws since the regulations were written by the Obama administration. No doubt, the Dems will want the Reps to join them if they decide to change the law and make it bipartisan giving the Reps some ownership of Obamacare. The mend it, don't end it mentality is creeping in among the GOPe.

The Dems want to remove all the pain from Obamacare even if it means bankrupting us. Look for requests to increase the subsidies to bail out the insurance companies and increase participation.

The Dems are going to turn Obamacare against the Reps by advocating fixes to the law and blaming Reps who oppose them.
