The Obamacare Exchange Scorecard: Around 100,000 Enrollees And Five Million Cancellations
Forbes ^ | November 12, 2013 | Avik Roy

In the market for individually-purchased health insurance, more than 4.8 million Americans have received notices that their preexisting plans are soon to be illegal, and will be cancelled. Many more cancellation notices are imminent. But yesterday, the Wall Street Journal obtained information regarding the number of people who have signed up for new private health coverage under Obamacare: “40,000 to 50,000” for the federal exchange, and 49,000 for 12 of the 14 state-based exchanges.

One official told Amy Goldstein and Sarah Kliff of the Washington Post that “the official figure will include people who have paid for a plan and those who simply picked a plan and put it in their shopping cart.” Most private companies aren’t allowed to count as “sales” people who put items in their electronic shopping carts, but haven’t yet paid. But politics triumphs economics.

Even the 100K figure is a lie because it includes people who put it in their shopping cart but never actually paid for it. See http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3090250/posts for more info on this.

“Many more cancellation notices are imminent”

The waiting is like Chinese Water torture. Each trip to my mail box is a nauseating experience. Just waiting for that potential ‘Dear John’ letter.

I guess if Uncle Sam owned Amazon, then the items I put on my wish list would count as purchases.

Also, they ain't going to meet the November 30th deadline for getting it fixed (as we already suspected):

Last Friday, in a briefing conducted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services, officials walked back a previous commitment to get the website fixed by the end of November. “It’s a critical date, without question,” said one. “But don’t think of it as an unveiling date. The goal is to make significant improvements that day.”

We are fools to believe any ‘information’ from the government. They are still trying to get us to believe that the website is the reason more haven’t yet signed up for the ACA. The truth is that there is a nationwide boycott of the ACA.

I'm wondering how many of the 100K are going to receive subsidized care?

They shouldn't count the free-loaders afterall because they're going to need at least 7 million young healthies to cover them.

If 50% of the 100k are getting free care then really they've only got 50k paying customers.

I’m pretty sure all is going along as planned. Pretty soon the EO will be a single payer system in response to a “crisis”.

Someone please explain why the skin tone of the “first black president” in those pictures looks exactly like some of the “white audience” behind him. Judginf from those pictures he is hardly darker than I am and I am a Nordic paleface with greenish to hazel eyes and B- blood type.

There are cancellations and then there are cancellations.

How many have actually signed up, then got cold feet and cancelled?

How many Obamacare real policies have been self cancelled?

I think that ship has sailed, as far as this failing and leading to single payer. This has not just failed, but failed so unprecedentedly, so spectacularly, and been ridiculed so unmercifully, that instead of crying out for single-payer, I think most Americans are wishing the government would just get lost.

As FReeper HiTechRedNeck put it on another thread, the planners wanted “a soft fail, not a spectacular fall off the edge of the aircraft carrier fail.”
