New Mental Health Mandate Will Make Obamacare More Expensive, Increase Fraud And Canceled Policies

ven as stories pour in of Americans facing steeply higher health insurance premiums and canceled coverage, Team TISI +0.13% Obama just imposed new regulations that will make those problems worse. It’s almost like they can’t help themselves.

On Friday, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced new regulations mandating health insurers cover mental and behavioral health to the same extent they cover physical health care.

A “mental health parity” mandate was passed by Congress in 2008, but Obama officials claim health insurers aren’t fully complying. (You’ll just have to overlook the irony of the Obama administration, which has postponed several provisions of Obamacare without any legal authority to do so, complaining that others aren’t complying with some law.)

The more likely explanation is the administration is desperately trying to redirect peoples’ attention from the Obamacare rollout that has become a non-stop string of stories about failed websites, higher premiums and canceled policies.

President Obama’s latest effort to divert public attention ignores a fundamental problem: it’s much easier to know when a broken bone has healed than a broken mind. That ambiguity opens the door to overtreatment and fraud.

When the value of health expenditures equals the annual gross domestic product of the United States, the libs will STILL think that we are not doing enough.

All Tea Party members will be labeled as psychologically unstable or a ‘threat’ and will be deprived of their 2nd Amendment rights.

I am actually going to be paying less for the same group plan this year (not sure how that happened but hopefully this requirement won’t ruin it ;)).

The stress of earning a living is driving me nuts. I need to be hospitalized or I may hurt myself or others.

Be careful. That’s exactly what they want to hear.

It’s a fine line between dissent and traitor.

Also a fine line between expressing yourself via a rant and being committed to protect yourself and others.

Guess who determines the line?

That's what they want.

The reason ZeroCare keeps jacking "standards" is to raise the price of insurance such that people choose to pay the penalty. Then Medicaid becomes the default single-payer system, with middle class Americans getting the same "coverage" or worse than illegal aliens.

Think of it: Medicaid is already in place as administered by the States as a default single-payer system. All we're talking about then is scaling an existing system.

Consider that scenario to the next level: Once most everybody goes on to Medicaid, then FedGov can stipulate the services States must provide to get Federal funding, and what do you know but those will be services Democrats demand: mental health (because they don't go to church), AIDS treatment and abortions (ditto), transgender surgery and infertility treatment (Ibid), etc. Services Republicans demand will be curtailed.

It's easy to do. The States will cry foul, but they will be sued into compliance in Federal court. At that point, the bureaucracy in Washington has taken over State government, and you have lost ALL representation at the State and local level. Federalism will then be totally dead.

This is what needs to be explained as to how ZeroCare was ALWAYS meant to work. The longer they stall for time, the more effective it will be against the States. Just watch. See tag line.

Another Cloward-Piven way to make it totally unaffordable as a path to single payer.

Repeal the Beast! Free markets, tort reform!

This latest version of h/care is that we’re all unstable loonies-—he consider himself the only sane one in the room.

Another glaring example of Ohoho’s elitist unmitigateed contempt for all Americans.

There's a cattlecar waiting for you.

Since you publicly stated that the liberal media will be trying to find out your identity so they can parade you as an Obamacare success.
