Survey: Most Uninsured Americans Aren’t Flocking to (wealth) Exchanges

**SNIP**

To function as intended, the marketplaces need a broad, healthy risk pool to keep staggering rate increases from occurring. The premiums of healthy, cheap-to-insure people cover the big bills for the relatively small number of sick people.

So if the exchanges do not “enroll enough young, healthy people, insurers will have to raise everyone’s premiums,” wrote the New Republic’s Jonathan Cohn in May. “In the worst case, this could create what actuaries call a ‘death spiral’: Rising premiums prompt people to drop out, causing premiums to increase even more.” Because the reform was aimed at bringing coverage to most Americans, keeping insurance premiums affordable matters immensely to the health care reform’s success.

Even the low-information citizen doesn’t want the government having all his personal information to share with any government agency that wants it. They aren’t that stupid.

In NV they are pushing the NevadaHealth.com with TV ads. I’ve seen 3 now and in one the mom of a family of 4 clearly states that since she and her hubby don’t have health care where they work and can’t afford it “the government is going to pay for it”. Another one shows a guy probably in his 50’s and he states that “now everybody will pay the same”. In the third one is a just graduated college guy who says “since I can’t afford it the government is going to help pay the costs”. Obviously the ad agency is parroting what they’re told but I’m, kinda thinkin’ WE are paying for it. Where do these clowns think the gov get “it’s” money? GRRRRRR!!!!!

I don’t see the problem. Just print up a couple trillion extra Bernake bucks to keep this sinking albatross afloat.

That's what I"ve been thinking all along. Allot of these people are food stamp cheats, welfare cheats, probably tax cheats. One of the ways they get away with it is to stay under the radar. I know in our town that the Mexicans write off all kinds of phoney stuff plus welfare cheat.

Another ticking timebomb

And just wait till they start issuing orders to the doctors to match client with the care required....and prescriptions....don't forget all those complex prescription orders.

I see not just amputations on the wrong limb....but on the wrong patient.

And why would they?

Who punishes themselves with another $200-300 per month bill that will still require you to pay $4-5-6000 out of pocket before you get any relief? That is insane and is not “insurance.”

Stock that money away if you can since paying it into the new scheme is akin to tossing it into a deep, dark hole.

40+ years ago, I was a "Trainer" for several major corporations. These firms paid 90% of their employees' healthcare premiums. Despite that fact, and my best efforts to educate new employees, LESS THAN HALF of new employees bothered to sign up for healthcare coverage!

Despite the "I KNOW BEST" mindset of liberals..., human nature will never change! Grand schemes based upon an assumption that people will "Do what is good for them" will never succeed!!

Thus, TOTALATARIANISM becomes the preferred course to ensure that the "People" act in the desired manner!

people didn’t have health insurance before because they wanted to spend their money on other things

my sister spent hers on all kinds of trendy dipshit stuff and her kids grew up without medical care or medical insurance.

at this point, life has become such a living hell, no one gives a darn about surviving and view death as a welcome release from torture.

a lot of these people deliberately do not have bank accounts so they can’t be attached

they deliberately do not have jobs so their wage assignment orders for child support have nothing to attach to either.

And most probably won't until the last minute, something pointed out in the article.

Don't get me wrong, I expect Obamacare to fail, but the initially low enrollment rates aren't necessarily a sign of it.

Exactly. It’s like having a minimum liability (non-comprehensive) personal liability/property damage-only policy on your car.
Your premiums are still $400 every six months, but you have a 10k deductible.
So you satisfy the law and you aren’t penalized (by having your license pulled) but if you have an accident, you are effectively uninsured. That’s the Affordable Care act.

Obama, the IRS, and Homeland have their boot ready to grind into the faces of those who resist. Make no bones about it - they know what’s coming next ...

So if the exchanges do not “enroll enough young, healthy people, insurers will have to raise everyone’s premiums,”

So even liberals understand that for this to work, young people who don't have jobs need to spend money they don't have for health insurance they don't need so that our society can insure the uninsurable (pre-existing conditions).

Because nobody in the private sector ever figured out how to insure people with pre-existing conditions and make money. If that were possible, somebody would have done it and cornered the health insurance market.

It had been figured out with group policies through an employer.
