“The house of Saud is buying nukes from Pakistan. The expect us to support Iran”
It’s about 50 years way past the time when USA politicians need to support ONLY the USA first, and forget the Middle East and China. Sorry if that offends the few that might believe that USA interests should be other than first.

Let's think about America's national interest.
Does America have any national interest in allowing Iran, a country who's religious leadership promised to destroy America, and whose parliament was chanting "Death to America" last week, to get nuclear weapons? Do we have a national interest in the Saudi response to Iran of getting their own nukes? Of course, not. An Iranian nuke directly or indictly means nuked American cities.

Sounds great, on paper.
Of course that will crash the economy, create a power vacuum that will be filled by someone who more than likely doesn’t like us, and push gas prices higher than ever before.
Lots of pain when you drop playing empire. Not to mention the scramble would probably lead to a world war, again.
Kind of like the various bubbles in the economy. It will pop, the question is if you try to do it in a controlled manner, or just let it blow up.
