They already take all newborn’s DNA in the hospital. Ostensibly to check for inborn errors of metabolism and whatnot. However, they never destroy the samples. They’re kept indefinitely, ‘just in case’ they need a new sample. Because they’ll never be able to get another one from the baby. Or something.
