Chris Christie: All Coat, No Tail
Slate ^ | 11/7/13 | David Weigel

Posted on 11/07/2013 6:34:06 AM PST by jimbo123

The day after his triumph, Chris Christie returned to the place where it had been sweetest: Union City. Located just across the Hudson River from New York City, Union City is nearly entirely Hispanic, and reliably Democratic. This summer the city's Democratic mayor, Brian Stack, endorsed Christie, and by the end of the race, the burg became a beacon for reporters writing about Christie's Hispanic outreach. Christie closed his re-election race with New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez in ... Union City.

So on Tuesday, flanked by a Greek chorus of cheering schoolkids, Christie held a lengthy press conference about how he won the state and won this city by 6,000 votes. "If you're doing something in Union City and you want it to be successful, go see Mayor Stack," he said.

Underneath the surface, though, there was a realistic follow-up question. Why hadn't Christie's popularity been transferred to other candidates? Democrats down the ballot held right onto their votes in Union City. Christie campaigned in person for a few Republican Senate candidates. None of them won.

I’ve had it with him and the rest of the establishment GOP. Their hatred of the TEA party and abandonment of Cuccinilli is pathetic. No more dollars to the repubs.

Christie was like Nixon in ‘72. Nixon got a 49 state landslide but had litrally no coattails.

Christie wanted a huge victory for himself and didn’t care about anybody else. And he got his buddy Booker safely ensconced in the senate.

He's not a leader. He's a one man band.

Rand Paul: Christie Win Shows GOP Has Room for Moderates
Wednesday, November 6, 2013 06:25 PM

By: Bill Hoffmann

The sweeping re-election of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie proves moderates are an integral part of the Republican Party, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky says.

“There’s room in the Republican Party for moderates, like Chris Christie. They seem to be the only ones that are winning in the Northeast,” Paul told “The Steve Malzberg Show” on Newsmax TV.

“The other thing that might happen in the Northeast, if we had a little more libertarian-leaning Republicans, they would have a chance in the Northeast,” Paul said Wednesday.

Calling the special election for October 16th, between Booker and Lonegan, was a colossal waste of taxpayer money, AND intentional as hell; distancing himself from Lonegan and more importantly from what Lonegan stood for, AND giving lard ass (himself) the sole spotlight on election night. I, I, I, ME, ME, ME. The victory speech was as embarrassing as Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford’s mea culpa speech the other day: I, I, I, ME, ME, ME. The GOPe rides (crawls/slighters) again.

Ann Coulter severed her ties with Christie last night on Fox, thrusting the rapier into him repeatedly. I'm not a Coulter fan and never have been, but good for her for exposing him for what he really is.

Coulter’s new book is the biggest flop of her career. She’d dumping him because her book is a colossal failure.

After the way Christie shivved Romney by embracing Obama, I'm wasn't surprised. My guess is that he'll get a lot of big money behind him, but the base will ensure he flames out in 2016.

Funny thing is that the liberal media isn’t reporting about the magnitude of Coulter’s new book flop because she’s attacking conservatives and republicans in it and on her media tour.

So they won’t talk about the horrific sales until after she’s done with her media tour and no longer useful to the liberals. Coulter is the new Meghan McCain.
