I have hated the very idea of any hint of a government-run solution to health care, but it seems to me that Congress could amend the law so that all of these plans do not have to cover things that people obviously don't need. I would rather it be repealed than fixed, but it surprises me that no one ever suggests this option.

The reason why the plans are "one size fits all" is because they are being used as subsidies. Men are paying for maternity care to help reduce the cost of insurance for women. Young people are being forced to buy insurance so that the premium money is used to subsidize the elderly, or illegals.
If people were allowed to buy insurance that fits their needs, there wouldn't be enough pay for the insurance for certain groups of people (who also happen to be big Obama supporters). That is, YOU are being forced to buy a Cadillac-type plan so that a person with a pre-existing illness - i.e. AIDS, will get low-cost insurance.
ObamaCare is nothing more than a redistribution of wealth.
