Leo Hindery Jr. is the Problem....
Employees of Obama donor Leo Hindery Jr.s media conglomerate Intermedia Partners, which now owns most of the top gun-culture media outlets in the country, believe that Hindery plans to gut and destroy all of them as part of a business plan that has already led to numerous layoffs and the virtual shuttering of prominent television production facilities in Minnesota and Montana.
Hindery, who was in consideration to be President Barack Obamas secretary of commerce, is managing partner of Intermedia Partners. The New York-based media private equity fund owns Intermedia Outdoor Holdings, which publishes 17 hunting, fishing, and shooting magazines, including Guns & Ammo, Handguns, Gun Dog, Rifle Shooter and Shooting Times.
InterMedia Outdoor Holdings purchased the pro-gun hunting and fishing network the Sportsman Channel in 2007, and is now in the process of acquiring the Outdoor Channel, pending the federal governments approval of last months merger between InterMedia Outdoors and Outdoor Channel Holdings.
InterMedia employees believe that Hindery, a Huffington Post blogger who has contributed to numerous Democratic politicians including Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren, is in the process of consolidating all of Americas leading gun-culture media outlets and stripping them down to virtual destruction.
absolutely....see #22
I sent G & A an email and told them to cancel my subscription. They responded and said my subscription ran out in January and that’s it. I wouldn’t renew just because of their poor customer relations.
It is still a commie rag owned and marketed by some groups and it should be mandated as GUNS AND AMMO MUST BE BANNED because that is all G&A is about.
G & A used to be almost the only gun mag but that was eons ago. They must still think they’re the only game in town.
Will they now confine their market appeal to Fudds?
“Don’t be like those crazies with their AR-15’s and Glocks! Obama’ll never take away your engraved pretty shotgun with the fancy wood as featured in this month’s issue!”
They way I read it was he was being replaced next year anyway.
His replacement was just moved up after this dust up.
Yes. He knew exactly how warped the article was and approved it. GUNS AND AMMO deserves to go down. There are plenty of other MAGS—and maybe a new one will take its place. GUNS AND AMMO blew it BIG TIME.
Robert E. Petersen is doing right hand twist 360s in his grave.
see 22...it is not the writers...it is the ownership....
BRAVO! You see this situation exactly the same way as I do Ruth. Im the editor of the newsletter for a pro 2A organization and if one of the people under me submitted an article to our newsletter that was contrary to our mission I would summarily reject it and, at the very least, question them about it. If they stood by their anti-2A position, I would immediately ask for their resignation. I would NEVER contemplate publishing it and if I did, I would expect to be dismissed from my position immediately!
Nope no more G&A for me. Theyre only apologizing because they got caught with their pants down. In magazine publishing there are meetings upon meetings about exactly which articles will be published. Then there is the layout department, etc. If I were in layout Id go to the publisher in charge in other words Jim Bequettes employer and point out the Metcalf article. There are many people that are complicit in Metcalfs article being published.
I assume you are referring to G & A’s founding editor.
Started reading G & A right after the JFK assassination. By 1968 the mag was editorially far more determined to defend 2A than even American Rifleman. Liberals in Congress threatened to subpoena G & A’s editors but never did. Late 1960’s & all the 1970’s were a very hostile climate for 2A supporters. And Vietnam vets I might add.
At least today the forces for freedom have a fighting chance. Gun rights opponents are reduced to namecalling as usual. Won’t let their kids play with gun owners’ kids, that sort of thing. Social ostracism, that’ll show ‘em!
Thank you for posting that info.
yes...Bob Petersen built his publishing empire on automotive-themed publications, including Hot Rod, Car Craft, Rod & Custom, Sports Car Graphic, and Motor Trend. He also published CARtoons, Guns & Ammo, Sport, Motorcyclist, Motor Life, Petersen’s Hunting, Mountain Biker, Photographic, Teen, Tiger Beat, and Sassy Magazine.
Interesting.
I wonder if he’s at all responsible for the problems airing 3-gun Nation.
As much fun as it is to go out and DO 3-gun shoots, it was kinda fun watching the sponsored guys and gals go on the circuit and shoot.
The balloon isn’t big enough.
There were lots of gun magazines back in the 1960s.
*** By 1968 the mag was editorially far more determined to defend 2A than even American Rifleman.***
After Bobby Kennedy was murdered, and during the anti-gun frenzy that followed, one liberal magazine referred to G&A as a “noisy little magazine” because of their pro-gun message at that time.
