October was Iraqs deadliest month since April, 2008. In those five and a half years, not only has there been no improvement in Iraqs security situation, but things have gotten much worse. More than 1,000 people were killed in Iraq last month, the vast majority of them civilians. Another 1,600 were wounded, as car bombs, shootings, and other attacks continue to maim and murder.
As post-liberation Iraq spirals steadily downward, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki was in Washington last week to plead for more assistance from the United States to help restore order to a society demolished by the 2003 US invasion. Al-Qaeda has made significant recent gains, Maliki told President Obama at their meeting last Friday, and Iraq needs more US military aid to combat its growing influence.
Obama pledged to work together with Iraq to address al-Qaedas growing presence, but what was not said was that before the US attack there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq. The appearance of al-Qaeda in Iraq coincided with the US attack. They claimed we had to fight terror in Iraq, but the US invasion resulted in the creation of terrorist networks where before there were none. What a disaster.

This President has abandoned friends and embraced enemies. It is 100% natural that they (Al-Qaieda) are causing mayhem in Iraq before they swoop in and declare victory.
Thank you Mr. President for sticking by your “reset” type principles. Advance, to the rear!
The US should never have gone into Iraq. Or Libya. Or meddled in Egypt. Or Syria. If it was plausible that American intervention could have actually helped transition those countries to democracy I’d be all in favour of intervention. The reality is that all the US has done is replace autocratic stability with factional chaos. America is not safer because of the events in any of those four countries.
It would seem that it is time for the Iraqis to come to the aid of THEIR country. Why don’t they ask the Chinese who have the oil contracts with them?????
America was on the road to becoming safer.
The world feared, hated dispised Bush BUT...they respected him and American Power projection.
Then, we flinched, we stopped in mid-stride by electing BHO. At that precise moment, America’s enemies went on the offensive.
That reminds me i need to slap my sister upside the head on Thanksgiving
