The TSA agents union says a new supplemental TSA force with greater authority needs to be created.
This 'new class' of TSA officers would work among regular TSA employees, but would be armed and able to make arrests.
The announcement comes just days after one TSA agent was killed and two others injured at Los Angeles International Airport.
The goal is to create a larger, and more consistent TSA presence in screening areas.
And spiffy uniforms by Hugo Boss.
They need to be returned to the private sector instead. We need to get rid of their salaries and pensions from the deficit. The shooter was shooting them because they are a representative of the government. If they were private, there wouldn’t be any reason to shoot them.
Obama’s SA-Now we know what those billion shells were for.
Police State alert. Now we’re going to have TSA SWAT teams?
“TSA agent was killed “...was this incident created - Nazis used to do this all time to create a state of panic and excuse for more power....interesting events that just keep on unfolding in the US
Great, first they rule that we’re not allowed to make fun of the TSA Mall Cops, now they want to be armed.
NO!Thats one thing the TSA doesn’t need and that’s firearms or arrest authority. If they should happen to need that authority they should call the local Police.
Major airports are usually overflowing with police anyway. They may as well be put to some use.
This would never work out, it’s be too hard to explain why they shot the caged dogs.
More unionized govt. workers...with guns and police powers. Yeah, that’s the solution. They would sit around in break rooms drinking coffee & yakking, unless there is a passenger to harass or dog to shoot.
Getting to 3rd base with 70+ year-old grandmothers isn’t enough, so they need guns to go “all the way.”
“The goal is to create a larger, and more consistent TSA presence in screening areas.”
No, the goal is to increase the base of dues paying members.
Odds of getting shot by a terrorist in an airport: 1 in 7 million. Odds of getting shot by a trigger happy TSA agent in an airport: Well let’s just say I will be driving when they arm TSA.
I took one flight under TSA supervision. It was my last.
That’s all we need now is a TSA agent with a weapon.
The local and state police are at the airports specifically because of "partnership" agreements with DHS/TSA because the "agents" aren't actually law enforcement with any actual authority except to grope passengers and search their bags.
Remember the brouhaha when they suddenly decided that they wanted uniforms and badges to better intimidate the public? Guns, arrest power, and SWAT teams are the next logical steps in the process.
Same here. Haven’t flown in 6+ years and won’t.
