Cereals have gotten really high.
I’ve found the Malt-O-Meal brand in bags at WM is pretty good and a lot cheaper.

Not a lot of demand for expensive high carb / low protein foods nowadays.

You nailed the problem. I can get the store brand Corn Flakes for half the price or less sometimes.

Unless you have food stamps you get a bargain on the cereal. I buy the Weis brand it is much cheaper and taste the same.

In that spirit of exaggeration, it would be cheaper and healthier just to eat candy bars for breakfast.
