South Korea's spy agency said Monday that North Korea was using Russian technology to develop electromagnetic pulse weapons aimed at paralysing military electronic equipment south of the border.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in a report to parliament that the North had purchased Russian electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weaponry to develop its own versions.

They’ve already put an object in orbit over the South Pole and over us that could avoid any anti-missile technology and paralyze one coast.

I believe they have four “objects” up there. If memory serves, no one quite knows what the objects are doing either (i.e., they are not communicating much, if at all to terra firma)

They don’t have enough copper thread in all of NK for one emp bomb.

Maybe they’ll try string?

So why the purchase? NK doesn’t have the hard cash to waste. Maybe they can use something new? Like Carbon Filiments? Think of all the most successful terrorist attacks and what made them successful? They improvised they adapted, they made the best use of what they had. They don’t have a billion dollar R&D funding.

“So who should worry more about EMP?

North Korea would like to make Americans more miserable than they are, an EMP would do that. A fictional but good read on the subject is “One Second After” by William Forstchen with a forward by Newt Gingrich.

How about bragging? Has any purchases been confirmed?

I suspect that the west have been flinging panicky tales of emps around so much that it’s a cheap lever for the monkey boys.

So the South Korans are bragging about the fact that the North Korens brought EMP technology? How does that work?

The norks are probably bragging. NIS would be inclined to believe anything, and it may even be true - emp-weapons are remarkably simple things. NK may not have the necessary infrastructure for much production of anything, though. So to gain the “production secrets” of emp devices makes no sense - you don’t need the kowledge as much as an industry base. So far, no one has sold the norks civilization.

They seem to manage very well as far as military infrastructure nukes, missiles..... There are few countries in the world that can match NK when it comes to adpating and over coming short falls in infrastructure.

Depends on how bad they want it. As far as SK spy network I trust it on NK far more than our own. I see no plus in SK bragging about NK have such technology.

I like your ‘probably’ part. Reminds me of this:

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger. Underestimation can be fatal.”
