Sales tax in Florida averages around 7%. The sales tax on a monthly allotment of $800 in groceries comes to $56. Since people with food stamps are not charged sales tax on groceries, the taxpayer is already losing out on $56 in taxes that these freeloaders aren’t paying. So they need to be cutting their handout by a hell of a lot more than $44.
