Starting Friday, Joyce Lewis and her family will lose $44 from their monthly food stamp benefits.
The food stamps buy a lot of economical rice-based meals for the family -- four adults and a grandson who live with Lewis in Spring Hill, Florida.
Occasionally, when her grocery store is running a deal, Lewis indulges the family with spare ribs or chicken.
The benefit -- totaling $800 for four adults -- never lasts Lewis and her family a full month.
"When I get to the end, we always run out. I try to go to all the food pantries," Lewis said.
--snip--
Her adult daughters who live with her aren't in a position to work -- one is a new mom, and another is due to give birth soon.

Tristan seems like a bright kid who communicates through some sort of computer device I've never seen before.
According to the parents, they don't receive food stamps for Tristan because he receives SSDI. The SSDI helps to pay their rent as mentioned earlier. The dad has a part time job. I was going to take them out for pizza but they can't really take Tristan anywhere out to to eat - I can understand that. Most everything in their house is broken and there are many holes in walls and doors. He's a handful. We talked and I'm going to invite them over for a BBQ if we get any nice weather soon.
This is 30 cents per day per person(5). Learn to effing cook from scratch. Looks like you’ve got the time. Bunch of crap.
That must be painful for the parents - to have their son become autistic after the shots. My friend said her brother was the same way - as a child she remembers her father always fixing holes in the walls, broken doors and other repairs. In her son’s case it seems there may be a genetic connection, as it turns out her husband’s brother is autistic as well. My friend’s son is a genius - gets obsessed with one topic and learns/figures out/gets 100% obsessed with it, until he picks something else. For a while after he taught himself to read, he made his own dictionaries obsessively, Now it’s maps and countries and cities. I was wondering if some of these kids could get into playing music.
And the sick part is, in the pic from the story, she's clearly had plastic surgery, with lip plumpening and a facelift.
Now, HOW'D she afford THAT?
We're talking 10K, easily.
That would pay for a whole LOT of $44/month "losses" in food stamps.
You need to send this to Drudge.
It would be so unbelievably hilarious to find out that the sob story lady is full of crap.
HOW many sob stories have the democrats and the media trotted out that have turned out to be complete hoaxes and frauds?
Uneffingbelievable. I guarantee you that here in Alaska the cost of living is considerably higher than that of Florida. Yet my family of four could eat easily, and also well, on $800 a month.
Each of the Joyce Lewises listed in Spring Hill, Florida that I found via the White Pages has what appears to be a nice enclosed/covered in-ground pool attached to the house. I suppose it costs a lot of dough to keep and maintain one of those, so I’d be pissed if my food stamps were cut too.
