Terry McAuliffe goes AWOL for Virginia students and media - Campaign ducks simple questions
Washington Times ^ | October 31, 2013 | David Sherfinski

It seemed a novel, relatively simple way for Virginia political candidates to engage with high school students across the state — and one that has been done for four years now.

In April, the gubernatorial campaigns of Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II were asked if they would provide videotaped responses to five questions culled from 5,300 queries submitted by high school students across Virginia.

The candidates agreed and confirmed when reminded of the project four weeks ago. But two weeks ago, Mr. McAuliffe abruptly backed out — angering administrators and fitting an emerging pattern of evading what appear to be even the most innocuous questions in the closing days of the campaign.

Some of the reports Mr. McAuliffe has refused to address have been broad in length and scope. A 1,600-word profile in The Washington Post this week of his failed economic development junket to Cuba in 2010 said the Democrat’s campaign “declined to make him available for an interview.”

Other reports have been more specific. A dispatch on the sportsman’s vote featured on the site PotomacLocal.com last week said that “Calls to the McAuliffe campaign about that candidate’s history on hunting and his position on sportsmen’s issues went unanswered.”

Why Unions Are Pouring Money Into Virginia (right-to-work state) & Why You Should Care "Union bosses and other out-of-state liberals–from Hollywood to New York–are pouring millions into the Virginia governor’s race.

They are, without a doubt, hell-bent on defeating Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and putting long-time Democratic party boss and fund-raiser Terry McAuliffe into the governor’s seat.

More than that, however, the Left (just as they are targeting Texas and other Southern states) may be using the governor’s race to put the final nail in the coffin for Republicans in a state that has swung from reliably red to almost-but-not-quite blue.

While the polls in the seem to be tightening from a McAuliffe shoe-in to a too-close-to-call (were it not for the Libertarian candidate), according to the Washington Post, Democrat McAuliffe has collected $8 million more than Cuccinelli.

In addition to Democrat heavyweights like Bill Clinton ($100,000), Hollywood heavy hitters like the Weinstein Co. ($25,000) and noted author John Grisham ($75,000), Planned Parenthood donated over $1.5 million and many other liberal special interest groups have sent McAuliffe six-digit donations.

Given the amount of big out-of-state money and extraordinary efforts union bosses and their liberal cohorts are putting into the race, one must question how the Left will gain from a McAuliffe win. Why are union bosses investing so heavily in Right-to-Work Virginia?

Last month, the AFL-CIO resolved at its convention to develop a Southern Strategy. The intention is not just to expand union membership but to expand their political influence............."

Well, I certainly hope the VA R’s DON’T think this is a ‘stay home’ he doesn’t have a chance win...

Lets face it, if Cuccinelli doesn’t win by 10 they will ‘find, manufacture, fake, steal’ enough votes to eke one out.

Heard a rumor that BO is gonna skip on Macawful Sunday because he doesn’t want his ratings to go down.

If “BS” Bill C were aware of this turn of events etc he would have stayed home... Think the WAPO was ‘disturbed’ at the negative ads ...

That campaign has been scanning everything that any of the R candidates have said and if they can pull a sentence out of nowhere that is NEGATIVE anywhere but the article - if spun right...They pulled that on Jackson...

Some woman with a ‘Special’ child quoted a comment from Jackson about how God was punishing ‘us’ by causing floods and deformed children (close) and she rails on him. They even showed the copy of the letter book or whatever and sure enough that line is in it. Of course what you could read on either side of it shows the intent isn’t what they are trying to ‘sell’.

All 3 of them have been fairly quiet and the D machine keeps hammering away - FLOODING day time ‘Judge and I am sure the shows that have the women glued to the sets in the afternoon - really hammering on the 3 of them on abortion and birth control, gay marriage...again, taking snippets and using them as stand alone comments.....

In a sane country, Terry McAuliffe would be in prison for the numerous crimes he has committed. In our country, he will be the governor of Virginia.

Terry no longer needs to campaign. The votes have already been purchased. All he can do now is hurt himself so he should be avoiding any questions at all costs.

Governor Thomas Jefferson never knew who would follow him two + centuries later, or he may have wanted gto abolish the states.
