In August 2013, Israel agreed to release 104 Palestinian prisoners, which was the PA's precondition for renewing peace talks. The following is the PA celebrating the release of 21 of them, all of whom were convicted murderers.

PA TV announcer: "Here they are embracing President Mahmoud Abbas after long years behind the bars of the occupation, in which they were transferred between different prisons and cells simply because they are Palestinians who fought the occupation... They are the ones who were, and are still standing firm against the arrogance of the cowardly occupier, they still write glorious chapters of strength, courage and self-sacrifice... Here are President Mahmoud Abbas and the released prisoners waving to the audience. They are signaling victory with their hands, giving the sign to start the moment of truth (i.e., the celebrations)..."

I thought ABBA’s broke up in the 80’s?
Released due to the arm-twisting by Kerry-Obama.
Thank you. I’m not the only one whose brain saw ABBA when it should have seen ABBAS. Hey! What if they got together to sing a few tunes. Those swedes can harmonize in any language.
You never have to release prisoners who are killed in the act.
And what does Israel get in return? Nothing, as usual. Just keeping the peace talks “open.” Well, they’ve been “open” since Jimmy Carter pushed the Helsinki Accords through, and so far they haven’t even quite managed to agree to agree to talk. Or something.
And how many murderers have been let loose in that time?
May we assume that the “peace talks” will focus on how many killers need to be released before the NEXT “peace talk” can be held?
Damn you Netanyahu. Obama cannot touch you. Why in G-d’s name are you doing this to these families?
Is there even one sane person who thinks that demanding the release of murderers as a precondition is a good sign for “peace” talks?
I wonder when was the last time that Israelis were polled about the restoration of the death penalty for particularly heinous murders?
As with many left wing assumptions about what the public wants, the strength of the assumptions relies on questions never being asked of the public. Because Israel’s demographics have changed considerably, especially with large numbers of formerly Soviet Jews, perhaps it is time to ask the question again, not just assume what the answer will be.
