Even education experts oppose Common Core
Small Government Times ^ | 2013-10-31 | Steve Adcock

Just about anyone who opposes the Common Core national curriculum standards, currently under serious fire in New York, is either a kook or a self-interested schemer. That, at least, is the impression an impartial observer would get from listening to many Core supporters. But the reality is quite the opposite: Education thinkers from across the political spectrum are taking on — and apart — the Core.

In the Empire State, education commissioner John King infamously declared parents and concerned citizens opposed to the Core “special interests.” He made the accusation as he cancelled a series of town hall-style meetings scheduled across the state. After major blowback, he scheduled new events, but the message King delivered was clear: Many Core opponents only care about themselves, not kids.

I saw a video the other day of some teacher in Wisconsin using the Common Core curriculum teaching fourth graders about “white privilege.” Ditch the program.

My son was picked by his school district to represent it at a conference supporting Common Core. It surprised me, and I intend to find out how a home schooled conservative has bought into this when he gets back. I need to find out what mistakes I made, so I won’t make them again with my youngest son.

My kids’ private school is switching to use it nexy year. I’e been trying to get more info on it.

I’m glad my kids will be graduating next year, but I don’t want to spend for something inferior.

I think it will only impact English for them because the will be in AP calc next year.

The same folks who support Globalism, Free Trade, weakened America....support Commie Core. Note that there is bi-partisan support of this

In the GOP...the more Liberal, the more Globalist, the more Free Trader elements of the party cheerlead Commie Core

Folks who still believe in, and, support American Exceptionalism, are totally against Commie Core

Why don’t we focus on teaching kids reading, writing, and arithmetic not ideology, indoctrination, and cultural revolution? Our current education system can’t even do the former, why should the believe they can do the latter?

Kids today are very clever. They don’t trust the education-media-indoctrination as they once did. The left doesn’t realize that it will backfire when they try to force poop like “the Jacket” down the throats of this generation.

There’s this commercial blaring on our local AM talk radio stations about how “conservatives” like Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush support Common Core. I just shake my head in disbelief. These same stations play the new al Jazeera commercials as well, so there’s not much to say about propriety on the airwaves. It’s all about dollars.

And the local rags are pushing this idea that Common Core is going to be so great and all of the hullabaloo is much ado about nothing. Pisses me off to no end. The mindless masses are just going to eat it all up as fact.

Whenever I encounter a a leftist educator (nearly all of them are), and they complain about Common Core, I tell them that we can't let the education industry regulate itself.

I oppose Common Core, but I love sticking to them.

A lot of school board elections will be held this Tuesday. Find out where your board member stands on this issue before voting.

“Mindless masses”; well, Rush is kinder with “low-information voters”. But you may be more on target!

The American people don’t mind communism so long as it is “lower case.” Jane Fonda Turner once said the people would one day pray that we would all become communist if they of course believed in prayer.

Do you see Jebbie actually bothering with all the caucuses and primaries, or will he just sit and wait for a coronation?

I don’t think you are right. I see the little tykes continuing to fall all out for liberalism in every size and shape, not that they really understand the ramifications of their decisions.

Hopefully he'll do the honorable thing for his country and walk of a cliff, but only after he pays the for the thousands of acres of private property he stole from Florida landowners.

He did it to preserve the land for "future generations," nice guy that he is.
